My wife also has a Titan and she is rolling 24" wheels. I called the dealership today to inquire about putting the tow gears in and true trac. The service guy talked with the tech and says this was a no go... Then they proceeded to tell me there was no limited slip available for the Titan. I proceeded to tell him gears were available and I have a scheduled appointed to have my true trac limited slip installed with new gears in my 4x4 and he told me there is nothing available for these trucks and they have hundreds of inquires and could be quite busy doing this type of upgrade. I have found at one particular dealership that the techs have very little knowledge on these trucks and this surprizes me. Anyway should I contact another dealership or take it to Hoopers and let them do it? Should I do the tow gears in my wifes 4x2 and not the ones are everyone is doing on the lifted trucks. I am assuming this becuase with 24" this ratio will be wasted and I will just get a high mph as the end result. Any thought would be appreciated...
you can't get the 3.73 gears on a 4x4... only 4x2... 4x4 peeps have to wait till superior gear gets their sh!t together and gets the gears done. no other dealership will or can do the gears on your 4x4... no one can! trutrac you can get, just not gears!

Hoopers 3.73 gear swap is for 2WD only no gears for the front! as far as the truetrac you can install that in a 2WD OR 4WD and as far as your wifes 2WD what size tire is she running? the wheel size is not the main factor.

305/35/24 on wifes. So, if you have a 4x4 could you not change the gears just in the rear and run it 4x2? So no 4x4 has ever done rear gears? If the diff is the same as th 4x2 it should be possible. Would it then be possible to get BT gears and just live with those for awhile? It is possible Superior is just putting feelers out to see if it is really feasable to move forward with gear... I really want 37" but want to get the gearing right. Maybe I should be going custom and changing the diffs? Is this even in the real of possibility like I have done on hot rod before?
I called Hoopers and the 4x4 can be done (and has been done) you just loose 4x4. I want to run 37" and the 2.94 is just not going to cut it for me not to mention I want the true trac. This will hold me over till Superior comes out with gears. I talked with Jeff at Superior this morning and they are for sure making gears. He did not want to state a time out of fear of getting into trouble but he did say everyone that has emailed him will get the press release when this goes down. So, I am good on my truck for awhile and can move forward with some bigger meats.
Now my wife's titan. I am thinking of also doing the true trac but not sure if the gears that are going in my truck are over kill. Like I said early her tire size is 305/35/24. I do not have the big tow and would prefer these gears but my research shows I have to buy a whole new akle/diff for $1500 to get the big tow gears. Has any one upgraded the gears from the big tow and would offer them up for sale? Any other options you guys know of?

So you're saying Superior feels confident that they can figure out the front differential of 4WD Titans, and they will have a press release soon? Or did I misunderstand? Personally, I would wait until it's a sure thing before I'd swap gears in for the rear. They might run into a problem and you'd be stuck with no 4WD. Even if you don't use it, it would be hard to sell like that.
Superior is for sure coming out with gears... and yes the press release should be the summer probably no later then the end of summer. This is good enough for me. The worst case scenario as I see it is I have to do something custom like a dana 60 front and rear.

We've heard stuff like this before, and years later, nothing. I suggest you wait.

If I'm not mistaken, both Precision and Superior made that same claim almost two years ago, and NADA! The following thread used to be a sticky: New Gears For Titan??
Like I said before, I'd wait until 4WD is a sure thing before screwing up your truck. You may never need the 4WD, but you'll have a hard time selling your truck without it. It would be expensive to convert back to your original ratio, at the least.
I thought this was a bit wierd... maybe you titan guru's can shed some light on this... 4X4 gear swap retains cruise control and works just like stock.

Swapped what?...The rear gears?...With what?
You want to e x p a n d a little...

3.73 and truetrac in the rear on a 4x4. I wonder if this means I could oder a complete 4x4 rear axle with tow gears and swap it out for my wifes 4x2 and get the cruise to work?
So if I buy a factory e-lock diff, can I install it in my 2WD Titan's rear axle housing? If so, how in the hell do I lock it? Do I have to run wires and all that garbage? And, are the spline counts the same for 2WD or 4WD? I found some Big Tow gears (the whole carrier assembly) e-locking for $600 and I can swap it out myself, quite easily as a matter of fact.
