I had Columbus Day off today...It's nice to work for the City! Took a trip out to Hoopers Rear end service in Sun Valley and spoke to Anthony...Here's the poop:

They have in fact installed different gears in several Titans...They were a set of Dana's Super 44 R&P, and they've only done the 3:73's.
Althought Anthony couldn't remember every exact detail, what he said was to do the install the actual ring carrier has to be machined down, and then a spacer has to be machined for another part of the carrier or pinion. He's not sure if it would work with a set of 4:10's...

He said it's a mess in there(the diff) Nissan has had Dana make all sorts of changes to the basic Super 44.

He said no problem throwing in a TruTrac if retaining the stock gears...

No, I didn't ask what the cost would be for the speacial gear change, but he quoted about 150-175 for the TruTrac install....Very do-able
HEY! lets cruise down together and hang out or do something till there done installing the gears.

hold on a sec... in that quote it has anthony of hooper quoted as saying, "...no problem throwing in a TruTrac if retaining the stock gears..."

it doesn't say anything about TruTrac is no problem if going with 3.73 gears. am i reading it wrong?

After some beetin on the new gears this weekend i have to say that everything is working great. They were able to intsall the gears with my new true trac. The price for the gears and install was $650.00 The down time was three days but i think they put my truck on their back burner thats why it to them so long. Other then that i finaly got the power i had when my truck was stock. the truck shift like a stock truck now not like a chev. The only bad thing was i lost cruse control, but no warning lights came on.
PLUS I CALLED MAN! IT'S ALL GOOD BABY!
THEY GOT IT DIALED IN! ONE DAY, $550.00

they (Hoopers) can install the gears without having to buy the trutrac and mag-hytech diff cover.

tru-trac is a limited slip differential with an aggressive ratio. our open differential on our titans only engage one wheel for traction as where the trutrac locks up both wheels for driving. fully automatic, it engages and disengages at will. another example is say you're driving up a dirt road in your stock differential. as you climb you lose traction and the power wheel, usually the right one in forward, starts to spin... your left wheel sits there and does nothing. now with the trutrac, the instant that right wheel starts to spin (lose traction), the left wheel is engaged via trutrac and now you have BOTH wheels grabbing at the terrain, so in essence better traction.

the Mag-Hytech differential cover is an advantage because it holds MUCH more differential fluid and the cover is riddled with radiator fins. those two advantages alone cause the differential fluid with a Mag-Hytech cover to run nearly 40* cooler. much better and a significant advantage when towing. also the Mag-Hytech comes with a sensor plug up top so you can add an aftermarket differential fluid temp gauge.

truetrac Limited Slip more traction less chance of getting stuck off road and quicker times for the guys that go to the track. Mag-Hytech Diff Cover holds more oil and is finned better for cooling and just plain looks cool.

I just got off the phone with hoopers 818-899-2515 and they said $550.00 parts and labor for the ring and pinion I supply the truetrac. He said just show up at 8am first come first serve. 1 day job and 3:73 is the lowest ratio they can do.

You'll need to get your Truetrac and diff cover if you want them. Hoopers will supply the labor gears and misc. parts for install. I found my parts here.
performanceoffroadcenter gives you $10.00 off if you tell them your a TT member.
