Re: TRUETRAC Mag-Hytech Diff Cover AND 3:73 GEARS

Although the rear end has it's roots in Dana's Super 44, the front end is out there...Means nobody has a clue yet on what might fit, and what it will take to make it happen.

I didn't get a chance to, they opened at 12 or 1... and my truck was done @ 12....
I also found away to use cruise control If you know you're going to use it on the freeway, turn it on before you hit the on ramp... Before you hit 40mph... Only problem is you will lose it, if you turn it off and back on, then it will start to flash again. I have been using it all week and works every time. I only got it upto 75mph becuase traffic around here.

Re: TRUETRAC Mag-Hytech Diff Cover AND 3:73 GEARS

I am curious and have one more question. I appreciate you guys and the willingness to aide another titan brother! So, if you have the big tow package does this mean the same gear ratio is in the front as the rear? And does a 2.94 4x4 have the same gears front to rear? It seems to me the front diffs would all be the same regardless of big tow or not. If so and they are geared diffrently front to rear a gear swap to the rear may not necessarily end your ability to use 4x4. Is this wishful thinking and does anyone have the knowledge to this?

Re: TRUETRAC Mag-Hytech Diff Cover AND 3:73 GEARS

Front and rear gear ratios need to be the same otherwise the driveline will bind and cause carnage.

C/control question: If you're on the freeway and cc's working, but you have to hit the brakes, can you engage it again after getting back up to speed, or do you have to slow down to say 40 mph, and cycle it off and back on again to use?
Love the gears, hate losing my beloved CC...

Due to various reasons, front/rear ratios are not the same. A rig w/say a 4.11 rear will probably have a 4.09 front. They might be sold as the "same" but are different, & made close so as to help eliminate binding. Steering is the biggest cause of binding, so having an "open" or unlockable differential, at least at one end, is the best way to release the bind. Also, stay off of "high-traction" surfaces when in 4wd to prevent binding.

Wishful thinking. Change both, or none.

Re: TRUETRAC Mag-Hytech Diff Cover AND 3:73 GEARS

My wife also has a Titan and she is rolling 24" wheels. I called the dealership today to inquire about putting the tow gears in and true trac. The service guy talked with the tech and says this was a no go... Then they proceeded to tell me there was no limited slip available for the Titan. I proceeded to tell him gears were available and I have a scheduled appointed to have my true trac limited slip installed with new gears in my 4x4 and he told me there is nothing available for these trucks and they have hundreds of inquires and could be quite busy doing this type of upgrade. I have found at one particular dealership that the techs have very little knowledge on these trucks and this surprizes me. Anyway should I contact another dealership or take it to Hoopers and let them do it? Should I do the tow gears in my wifes 4x2 and not the ones are everyone is doing on the lifted trucks. I am assuming this becuase with 24" this ratio will be wasted and I will just get a high mph as the end result. Any thought would be appreciated...
