Transmission Temp question

I have an '04 KC 4x4 with the big tow pakage that is completely stock. Over the last few weeks, my gas mileage has gone down by about 15% in all driving situations. I live in South Carolina -- not sure if we get 'winter' gas or not. Regardless, I've also noticed that the transmission temp gauge is running anywhere form about 1/4 to 1/2 way up the scale. I've only owned my Titan since October 2007, but I'm pretty sure that the trans temp was always at or below 1/4. On the highway, yesterday, the truck has downshifted from 5th to 4th a couple of times for small hills. At 70mph my truck is running right at 2000 rpm. In general, it just feels like something is slipping. I checked the fluid tonight, and it's right in the middle of the 'ok' range. Any ideas? Are my transmission temps and rpms at 70 mph normal?

Re: Transmission Temp question

It wouldn't hurt to take it in and have the Transmission serviced. It might be the original fluid in the case.
