2004 Titan Needs new Rear End

Well...a little while ago, I started feeling something funny in the rear and...I had no idea what it was until the other day pulling away from the gas station. It sounded like a clunking and grinding noise in the rear and then after 20 mph it was fine...Then the other day it just went...I had nothing...Felt like I had thrown it into Neutral and then into park...LOL... The truck has 66000 mile and of course no warranty....But the dealer is covering everything except the tow....Sweet...Probably one of the best experiences I have had with a dealer, cause frankly I would have been screwed...So...When you see him...Give your dealer a hug...LOL

Just for reference....Is this a common thing....

unfortunately yes it is..
I feel your pain, my diff is on the way out, 49000 miles and is whining like a baby. Ive got it scheduled for replacement next week. I tried to get dealer to put elocker in it instead of stock but no cigar.

This was the major problem with early Titans, since been correctted. Your new rear, is a better rear than you had. Glad to see they extended the warranty on it, they usually do because of Titans history. Do consider a Truetrac.

Did you ever get an alignment on the old rear end? Make sure you do on the new one.
