Re: Engine, Transmission.. HELP

That was my next guess, so don't try to clean it. I have noticed something else. I also have an 04 Armada. When the truck is started and sits in park, it is running about 750-800rpms, my wifes armada runs closer to 550-600rpms in park. Could that be something? Generally the truck just seems to be downshifting at a lower rpm, maybe its in my head but that's what it seems like. Any ideas.

Does she have a vacuum leak somewhere?
Hear any hissing sounds while it's running?

Are you talking about my Titan or Armada, I hear no hissing, which RPMs sounds right, or is there not a right or wrong.

Re: Engine, Transmission.. HELP

The ECU is different for the Armadas and Titans. It may just be a different set point for the two.

Re: Engine, Transmission.. HELP

Alright, I will try some injector cleaner or something similar and then see what happens. If something is really bad wouldn't check engine light come on or something

The Titan.
Take a look, and listen a little.
It might be just a perished or disconnected hose near the intake.

Update:Re: Engine, Transmission.. HELP

Reset ECU, went through 2 tanks of gas and add engine/ fuel injector cleaner. Truck is still running sluggish at times. Half of the time it feels fine, acceleration is good from a stop and while driving. Seems as though RPMs are higher when accelerating before shifting. Also when driving it almost feels like the brakes are being applied and pulling the truck back but they are not. Any ideas, thanks in advance

Re: Engine, Transmission.. HELP

I see you have a K&N filter. Some have oiled their filter too much and the oil gets on your MAF and causes problems.

Re: Engine, Transmission.. HELP

this could be a problem with the trans module. did you lift it yourself?? if you did have a 4wd shop reprogram the shift points. the trans speed is what causes the trans to shift in relation to the engine speed. when you lift it the engine trans want to shift like stock. i dont know if titans ca be programmed for larger tires. its the whole thing about the speedo being 5 mph off. otherwise maybe an electrical issue. i may be wrong just a suggestion

Re: Engine, Transmission.. HELP

I have had my lift for 1 1/2 years and it just started acting up. Wouldn't that of happened when the shop did it?

Re: Engine, Transmission.. HELP

You can't reflash your ECU to change the shift points by any means that I'm remotely aware of, so scratch that off.

You should never use compressed air on a K&N filter. If you read the instructions that came with the filter, it says not to do this as it will ruin you filter and either reduce the air flow or blow out the media so it does not filter properly, letting more dirt in.
