how do i tell what rear end i have

I need to get a new tranny and need to know how to tell what rear my truck has, it's a 05 se with tow package 4x2. How do I tell if it's a locking or non locking rear end?

Re: how do i tell what rear end i have

2wd titans don't have locking rear ends ... only the Off Road pkg. 4x4s do.
If you have the Big Tow pkg. you will have a Tranny temp gauge, (on '04 - '07), otherwise none. This would mean you have the 3.36 gears.

Yes. The trannies are the same on all floor shifts. The differential , if with big tow and transmission temp gauge on panel, will be the 336 gears. You probably still have a white tag stuck on the differential you can read. Should see the 3.36 on the tag.

No such thing. In 2004 Nissan offer the OR package on a 4x2 but it DOES NOT come with rear locking diff.

4x2 Off-Road Package (17-inch wheels, BFGoodrich tires, Rancho shocks, 3.36:1 gears, tow hooks, and skidplates)
