clunk when shifting

i have a 2004 titan 4x4 and when i shift from reverse to drive or drive to reverse there is a clunking noise. any ideas?

Theres been many threads on this. Some say its normal and some say its something to do with the tranny or rear end. Check out some of the links listed under "similar threads" on the bottom of this page. Mine truck does this, but only if i shift from P>R or R>P pretty fast (gated shifter) If i do it slowly it doesnt do it.

It's normal to hear a clunk if you switch quickly from drive to reverse or reverse to drive. I heard brand new Titans do it at the dealer. I pause in neutral for one second between shifting and no clunk.
