Re: Synthetic Oil in Titan

LOL, that's pretty funny considering my dealer uses Mobil 1 if you ask for synthetic - I've stood there & watched the guy open the box & pour in the quarts !

Re: Synthetic Oil in Titan

12,000 miles on my '08. Been running Mobil1 since 2k. No problems and I get great mileage (for a full size truck). I have run full synthetic in all my vehicles and never had a problem.

Re: Synthetic Oil in Titan

The break in period is also not necessary. Corvettes come from the factory with Mobile 1 (an that's a GM)

Show the dealer the owners manual.

Re: Synthetic Oil in Titan

70,000 miles on 2004 Titan CC using Amsoil, Mobil 1 and occasionally conventional oil.

Synthetic is NOT a problem. The dealer told me you could not switch back. They really don't know what they are talking about.

Here are some quotes from Pat Goss a NATIONAL EXPERT on automotive maintenance: "Synthetic oil can double, triple, or even quadruple the life expectancy of your engine."

Also: "Synthetic oils are appropriate any time. The first oil change in the life of the vehicle is the best time. But, any vehicle can be changed over at any time and will enjoy the significant benefits of the synthetic product."

Also: "Synthetic oil does not cause leaks. Actually it can't cause leaks. Using illogical data to draw logical conclusions is how myths like this one stay alive for decades even though they were never true."

Pat Goss answers questions on a radio show and in print at the Washington Post.

Tom and Ray of "Car Talk" (an NPR radio show) have never seen a problem in their shop related to mixing synthetic and conventional oils.

You should have no problems using synthetic oil.

Re: Synthetic Oil in Titan

Leaks caused by an oil that meets all Mfg and industry specs. THAT's FUNNY!

Like, which particular seal is going to be damaged by it. Bet you can't get a solid answer on that one...

Re: Synthetic Oil in Titan

The only thing i can come up with for the synthetic debacle is that it's thinner than dino oil relatively. But, with today's higher tolerances and better MFG'g standards that really is a good thing. Maybe they think since it feels thinner it will cause leaks?

Re: Synthetic Oil in Titan

Previous sarcasm aside, synthetic is better than dino in every way shape and form. Some myths die hard.

Bob the oil guy's website has way too much reading on the subject if ya want to be 'informed'.

Re: Synthetic Oil in Titan

13k on my 08 running Mobil 1 Synthetic for that last 5k miles and no problems. I switched 1) the service department at my local Nissan takes forever and a day and there is an Express Lube up the road and 2) said Express Lube hires people who know what they're doing. Course now I am at college and will go to the dealer because I do not know any of the shops in Cookeville, TN

Re: Synthetic Oil in Titan

Mobil1 seems to be a big favorite here, must be something Titans and there owners like about it.

Whats the change interval with Mobil1 (normal everyday driving)? Went to the M1 site and couldn't find info on rated mileage.

Anybody using the Mobile1_Truck & SUV?
