nothing wrong with that! I'm not a fan of all the "cleaning" agents and additives usually, but the lucas fuel treatment is the only one that doesnt have alcohol or throws a code if you use it properly. some of that stuff is downright nasty!

What are you talking about? Why would you dump fuel injector cleaner into your oil??

Run the fuel injector cleaner in your gas. Cleaner removes particles from injectors and deposits them into the oil. Change the oil, remove the deposits.

Correct - no fuel filter - on my 2005 CC I have just a wire mesh screen in the tank pickup to hold back the big chunks. Nissan saved a few $$ on our Titans in the fuel filter area that way. If you don't believe me - just follow your fuel ine under the truck all the way to the engine and see for yourself. Or you can search "fuel filter" on past posts on this forum. - Peace - Royr -

Re: Lucas Oil Products

Gentlemen, I very interesting topic. I must admit, i work part time as a manager at autozone (its like 3-4 hours on weekends, when i get bored or not working on any of my 5 cars). Not the dream job, but with the 20% discount and with 5 cars in the driveway, brakes, oil, maintenance gets expensive, and again, its only part time. (uncle sam pays the rest of the bills! haha!).

From experience, and some pissed off customers i've generated a list of what REALLY works, and whats a bunch of Hype.

Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner - works
Lucas Transmission Fix - works
Lucas Octane booster - doesn' really work that well, and for $9 for 12 oz.. you're better off buying premium gas
STP Full Injector Cleaner (grey bottle) - doesn't work
STP fuel System Cleaner (white bottle)- works, but is way watered down
STP fuel/diesel treatment... (red/blue bottle) only 1/3rd of Jet Fuel. is decent on 4 cyl. engines
STP octane Booster - (orange bottle) a bunch of hype
Gumout Fuel Treament - does NOT work
Gumout Fuel System Cleaner - doesn't really work
NOS octane booster - a bunch of hype
RXP Fuel injector cleaner (4oz) works, but ONLY use 1 bottle. its carbonated, so if you add 2 it'll screw up your fuel system!
Berryman B12 Chemtool - works
Seafoam Fuel System Cleaner - doesn't work
Shell/valvoline fuel system cleaner - are really really watered down.
Prestone Fuel system cleaner, octane booster, fuel injector cleaner - do NOT work
Slick 50 - works okay
ZMAX - once you add it, you have to keep using it. Do NOT switch or check engine line will turn on!!

Honestly, in my 3 years working there for a few hours here and there, on weekends when it gets packed, here are my recommendations:

Lucas - except octane booster (oil treatment, trans fix, diesel treatment)
Red Line Water Wetter - pink liquid. dilute with 50/50 anit freeze.
RXP - for really really old, dirty or stalling engines
Sta-Bil - if your car has been sitting there for a while
Marvel Mystery oil - add to OIL only!
Berryman B12 Chemtool- carb cleaner also works well.

speaking from experience... do not buy anything Valuecraft as far as hard parts.. i.e. brakes, pads, shoes, shims, rotors, seals, etc. spend the few extra bucks on duralast. they're from the same company but duralast tend to be more rigid. Trust me, you get what you pay for with valuecrap!

I'm not advertising here... no way! all the brands mentioned above are sold everywhere and you can buy them everywhere else. but just talking from customer reviews, complaints and personal experience with use of the forementioned additives.

hope this helps!

Re: Lucas Oil Products

thanks dave. good list. it's pretty much what i expected it to be, except i'm a little surprised by the stp fuel cleaner. but what would u know about the engine restore stuff oil additive. it comes in like a 4 cylinder can, 6 cylinder, 8 cylinder, and it's in a silver can with a blue sticker. can't quite remember exactly what it's called. all reviews of all of these products is very helpful

yeah the B&G is good, unfortunately we don't sell it. its like the all time question we always get asked: "which oil is better"? (i'm not even going to touch this one.... unless someone starts a thread, which i think is already somewhere around here).

The Engine Restore does come in 4, 6, & 8 cylinder formula (in a grey cylnder), but honestly, thats if the engine has worn seals or a ton of debris. more of a lubricant, but it does clean. it all depends how many miles your truck/car/suv/van has, and how often you change the oil.

From what i've heard, it supposedly gives "smoother idle"... but i've never tried it.
