I think I fried my tranny!

Went muddin in the Titan and all of a sudden nothing no gear. It was like it got hot. I let it set for a while. fired it up a little while later and seemed like nothing was wrong. Powerwashed everything underneath then started to drive home. I felt it slipping a having trouble finding a gear. Definatly getting hot. Dont have a trans temp gauge but i could tell after i got out to take a look after slipping going up a hill. Man I have to get all that mud and get my t to showroom quality quick. I think I should Probably just have it towed in. what a bummer. Luckily my truck only has 35,589 miles on it. the service manager at my local dealership loves my truck so hopefully he wont give my a hard time. Ill post pics of mud on truck in a little while

Weeeelllllllll, it is a Pro4X. Where do they expect it to go!

Hope all works out well for you. I think it will.

You could have taken it easy on it, and gone Drag Racing instead, with the rest of us! j/k.

Re: I think I fried my tranny!

I didn't know the Titan came in a chocolate brown color.
I guess you have to add that yourself.

Re: I think I fried my tranny!

I keep an add that was out when I got my T showing the titan doing some serious off roading over boulders. I figured if I ever got hassled about any sort of offroading I would pull it out and show them that add. If thats what they advertised....

Re: I think I fried my tranny!

Tagged for follow up. You don't hear much about fried trannies on this forum, but it sounds like a tranny issue.

Re: I think I fried my tranny!

I have been reading about the code. It seems it could also be a bad sensor or in my case probably dirty or wet. Either way bad connection.(hopefully Fingers crossed)

Re: I think I fried my tranny!

Did you check the tranny fluid? I know it's a newer truck but maybe you have a small leak, or the factory didn't put the correct amount in...

Re: I think I fried my tranny!

No I didnt check fluid. I want the dealership to handle the problem. If my warranty was up I would do everything myself. I am sure i dont have a leak cause i would notice. Kind of anal about checking my truck for leaks. As for being low from factory that would be there problem now.(hopefully)

Re: I think I fried my tranny!

I had a similar issue happen to mine about a month ago drove to Arizona to visit wifes friends and some other business. While about an hr out of Vegas the tranny seemed to slip going up a hill. so i shifted into 4th manually. Then back to drive and all was good for awhile, came to another grade and did the same thing was slipping real bad and then 5th stopped working all together, finally made it to a really small town called wikkiup (not spelled right) and stopped at a Gas Station. Checked under the truck and no leaks... Figured maybe the tranny was hot because earlier in our trip took over an hr to cross the Hoover Dam...traffic was horrendous.

Started driving again and only had 4th until.... hit another good hill and fourth started to slip.... GREAT!!! Made it to the next town WickenBurg and stopped at an autoparts store... got a wrench and checked the tranny fluid... it was full did not smell good though almost smelt burnt...

Well I was not going to be stuck out here as the nearest Nissan Dealer was Phoenix (our destination) so continued to drive and i was in 3rd pretty much the last 80 miles of our trip.....

Dealer checked it out Monday morning (started trip on Sunday) called me later that day and said it was a Turbine Sensor that went out. and would take until wed to fix... so we stuck around till then instead of driving home on Tuesday. Wed Came they got the part and replaced it but NO GO tranny still slipping so protocol was to swap the tranny out......

Never found out what was exactly wrong but got a new tranny...Also worried about the bullydog programmer but since nissan dealers supposedly carry them now they did not hassle me!

Good Luck with yours but i don't for see any problems with a replacement!
