I'm new to the whole Titan thing, and i just recorded my first MPG. Got 15.5mpg and filled up 25 gallons. Good? Bad? Average? What type of oil (brand and oil type) and oil filter do you pros recommend using on a '07 with 32k miles on it? I've read a few threads and alot of guys here speak highly on AMSOIL. My dad is a southern guy and he has always used Havoline and Valvoline in his cars. And i've grown up using the same.
But before changing my oil for the first time, figured I would check with you guys and see what you use or recommend me using.
I've used Mobil 1 for years
right now I'm running Amsoil in my truck
synthectic oil is what most here are using

15 is about average, and it is what I get in mixed driving with my 07. Personally, I would go with Mobil 1, although Valvoline is an excellent dino oil.
Truck it spec'd for 5w30 or 10w30 depending on temps. I would use what ever was on sale between Peenzoil platinum< QS horsepower, M1, Castrol edge. If you were doing the 3k mile oil change and regular non synthetic oil will do. Amsoil is great but not really worth the money if you dont plan on running the oil out past 10k miles or more. Just my thoughts.

I run Amsoil Signature Series oil and Amsoil oil filter in mine. I average (in WV -- think LOTS of mountains) between 14.5-16 MPG. On highways on flat (just got back from Missouri) I was doing 17 MPG average. Heck, even when I towed the family camper (7000+ lbs) in western PA I pulled a solid 10 MPG average. A buddy of mine uses Royal Purple and gets good service from it, but not as good of MPG.
I have always used Amsoil and have NEVER had any complaint. Let me know if you want some more info or pricing (don't everyone jump on me at once -- I am in process of becoming a site-vendor).

I use Mobil1 5w-30 and a Mobil1 filter. I've changed my oil twice so far on my 2008.5 big tow. The oil was still relatively clear after almost 7k miles.
im using mobil 1 10w-30 i honestly do not like it.. it made my titan have a knocking sound.. i guess thats what i get for cheating on amsoil
I don't know what is best for the Titan, I guess it is whatever fulfils your requirements best. I have used Mobil I synthetic in all our vehicles in the last 20 years. I have an 08, KC, BT SE and I changed the oil and diff fluid at 1000 miles to Mobil I products. Hard to say I could tell any difference. At 5000 miles I changed the oil to 5W-30 Valvoline SynPower synthetic (got a coupon deal so thought i would try it). Sounded the same and drove the same with the same mileage. At 10,000 miles I replaced the oil again with the same Valvoline SynPower and noticed it came out somewhat darker than the Mobil I did but the Mobil I had 4000 miles at changeout and the SynPower had 5000 miles? I did not do an analysis and black is not necessarily bad. I also changed the rear end fluid again at 10,000 because I was going to tow 5000 lbs for about 400 miles and the forums are filled with horror stories about our differentials.
I'm a bit OCD so I send oil samples to Blackstone about every 5000 miles and put at least 10000 on the oil. I ran Mobil 1 5w30 for a long time and according to the oil reports, the Titan loves it, very little metal content and the remaining contents were smack on the average. I've recently switched to AMSOil and I don't have enough mileage or data to plot trends yet but i'm pretty confident AMSOil is comparable to M1. As long as you stick to 5w30 and regular intervals, you'll be fine with whatever you prefer to use.

I use the exact same combo in my 08 and changed it twice as well, but at 10k miles...
I was shocked at how clear the oil was still when I drained it out...
