I'm looking to purchase a Wheel/Tire combo(already mounted and balanced) from one of the Internet stores. Since the tires have already been mounted with regular valve stems, I presume if they're installed on the truck, the low pressure light will stay on.
Does it have a fuse to pull so it'll stay off or are there any other factors involved that I should know about?
I didn't want to take the dash apart to get rid of the light bulb so if there's an easier way please let me know.
Thanks,
DT

Buy a set of tire pressure sensors from your dealer - $200 (Or have them removed from your OEM tire/wheel combo.)
Have a local tire shop unmount your new tires, install the tire pressure sensors, then mount and balance the combo again. $60-80.
I think having an idiot light on the dash telling you your tire pressure is low and you're in danger of imitating a Ford Exploder is well worth the $60-$300 it may cost you.

That little light and alarm saved me in the North Georgia mountains. Seems I caught a nail between the treads. The alarm sounded and I figured it was a malfunction, the tires looked OK. Once I arrived at my destination I checked the pressure and indeed one tire was at 25 psi and night was beginning to fall. Had I not had the monitor I would have had to change a completely flat tire the next morning on a gravel driveway with a steep incline.

I have had 80psi in my tires once and the light did not activate. Its just a low pressure warning system.

Re: How to disable Low Tire Pressure Monitor LIGHT?
Since getting a set of aftermarket rims, I have not had a problem with the low pressure sensor light turning on. I had originally installed the OEM sensors on the aftermarket rims, but due to the angle of the OEM stem valve, I couldnt use them. I inquired from the tire shop if that would set off my sensors. The tech informed me that since the OEM spare tire still had a sensor, the ECU will still read it as if I still had my OEM wheels on. I didnt believe him, but its been a year now and the low pressure sensor light has not turned on. I was kinda suspicious so I reinstalled my OEM wheels. After running them for a week, I ran over a nail and started a slow leak. After a day or two, the low pressure sensor light turned on. I refilled the tire with air about 40 psi and the light turned off after driving it for several minutes. I guess the tech was right..it worked for me.

Re: How to disable Low Tire Pressure Monitor LIGHT?
When using two different sets of wheels, each with its own sensors, is there a programming involved when switching between wheels?
