I believed that's how the 06 and newer work. On my 05 when no one is sitting in the passenger seat or if someone under the size limit sit there, light is on with an X telling me there's no airbag. If someone sit in it with the right size/weight requirement the light shut off. I believe with the 06 and newer the airbag is always "hot" until someone under the weight limit sit in it, than it shut the airbag off.

So I threw my airbag light when taking out my drivers seat to install a system. Turned on the ignition and tripped the code. Was at the dealer for a foggy headlight and they said they were going to charge me over $100 to clear the code. I declined that offer real quick. I'm going to check this fix out tonight.

That's what the dealer told me as well... I'm glad I came across this thread, which took only a minute to do and worked like a charm.

Re: Dash Air Bag Sensor Reset

Took a couple of tries. Mine was a fast blink that slowed down when I tried off to on and wait for the first flash. Then it became a slow blink that finally shut off with a 4 off to on to off with a five second pause between cycles. Maybe that will help someone.

Re: Dash Air Bag Sensor Reset

Hi guys, I cannot describe how frustated I feel... I've been trying the "original" method and its variations for 1 hour or more with no luck. I tried the

OFF - ON(1 blink) - OFF(5secs) - 3x ------- no luck
OFF - ON(5 secs) - OFF(5secs) - 3x ------- no luck

4x, 5x and 10x no luck!!!!

I have a 2006 CC. And all started earlier today when I was changing the head unit (DASH OFF) and turned the ignition on to roll the windows...I know that screwed the airbag thing but now I cant fix it.

When I go from OFF to ON all the lights in the panel come ON and ALSO the little light with a X in the middle of the panel.

I bought the car yesterday please dont tell me I have to go back!!!

?What am I doing wrong?
Please HELP!!!!

Re: Dash Air Bag Sensor Reset

Thanks, worked fine for me after the first time. I installed a new aftermarket stereo and thought I damaged a cable but it is probably because the passenger airbag warninglight was disconnected.

Re: Dash Air Bag Sensor Reset

I just had to do this and it took several dozen tries to get it right. I think I came up with a procedure that will help alot of you with bad timing like myself.

First, you know how when you leave your key in the ignition in the off position with the door open your truck beeps at you? "beep beep beep beep ----beep beep beep beep----beep beep beep beep" Well, you can use that as a timer.

Open the drivers side door and put the key in the ignition.
Turn it to the On position and watch the air bag light. It stays on for several seconds and starts blinking. Watch it closely. As soon as it blinks ON for the first time, IMMEDIATELY shut off the ignition.
Wait for 5 "beep beep beep beeps" and turn the ignition back on.
Do the above 2 more times.
On thr last time watch the airbag light. It should start blinking slowly. At this point let it blink a couple times and turn off the ignition for 30 secons or so.
You should be fine now.

Re: Dash Air Bag Sensor Reset

I removed the HU today and disconnected the passenger airbag light which tripped the blinking airbag light on the dash. I followed this procedure to the letter and it worked. I actually ended up doing the procedure 4 times instead of 3, but it worked all the same.

2008 Pro 4X - this forum saved me $100.
