Changed out A/C blower motor today(with pics)

2004 Titan SE CC 4x4. 32,605 miles. A/C blower has been making a clicking sound for about a week or two. Reduced A/C performance slowly over time for about 4 months or longer. Bought a new motor from Advance 91.00 (Nissan wanted 240.00). No one, including Nissan, had any available, all back order. Advance was the only one who had them.
Put in new motor today. Performance increased greatly, very noticable. Stronger velocity and much colder air. Takes half the time to cool down as it has been. No clicking noise. Very easy to do. AC feels new again. Micro filters changed last week. Heres some pics.

1. The round part under the dash near the front passenger's feet. 3 screws for housing and 1 for a cable tie down

2. Dash board/glove box off. If your little you could probably leave this on.

3. Fan housing, motor and blade wheel drop out of A/C ductwork.

4. Pry or snap off old lock washer holding fan wheel to motor post.

5. Remove motor mounting screw from housing. Torx head screw driver needed.

6. Cleaned out bottom of fan wheel. Soot from old motor.

7. Old motor (silver) and new motor (black). Old motor had the top of the post rusty. New motor had a longer wire. Black motor housing at top of pic and fan wheel to far right.

8. Box new motor came in.

9. Before inserting new motor into housing, you have to put a rubber ring/band around the motor so it fits tight in the housing. Had to use some loob so it would fit down in the housing because the rubber ring made it really a tight fit. This was per the instructions. Use real light coat of vasoline. Then re-attach fan wheel with new lock washer and re-use torx head screw for motor / housing. Plug in and remount.

Good write up....my ol' truck's A/C performance has been decreasing as well, going to have to go this route. Thanks.

How does replacing the blower improve you getting cooler air? Was your blower not blowing before? Or was it blowing warm air?

My AC seems weak in my titan, but the blower is operative. I can see a little improvement with more wind, but beyond that the system would need an improvement to the condensing coil & compressor to get more cooling going on.

I also have a 2004 CC

a blower can not give you colder air

Only a better flow of air

Re: Changed out A/C blower motor today(with pics)

I don't know either, but it remains that the cab is colder much quicker than before. Just ask my friends and family that have ridden in it in the last 48 hours. Does not make sense from a scientific standpoint and was alittle reluctant to post it, but it is the truth. The air flow is the lesser of the improvements, while still an improvement. The air flow was not weak before but not strong either. The air flow is back to new levels, it feels like and sounds like. The temp is the best improvement. It's not in my head, others feel it too. The truck was taking nearly 4 miles to cool down on the way to work and it was cool, not cold. Under the same conditions it now takes about 1 mile and it's cold. Whatever the reason, take it with a grain of salt if you'd like, or dismiss it completely, I just know it works much better than before, for whatever reason.
The changing of the yuked out micro filters last week did little to increase flow or temp.
I'm just glad it is improved. Feels like new.

Re: Changed out A/C blower motor today(with pics)

Update, turned the AC unit to heat for the 1st time this year yesterday. The fan makes a clicking thumping noise on heat or heated defrost. Not on the AC cooling part of the system, just the heating part. Any opinions, views, experience with this.
