Thumbs up How To - Replacement of Cabin Air Filters

If none of you have done this yet I would highly recommend doing it, it only takes about 10 minutes and approx. $30 in parts to accomplish this very worthwhile task. You'll see from my pics why I'm going to start changing my filters at each oil change from now on!! Also from what I've read the XE's don't come with these filters but you can install them in the same openings. This is the first time I've changed them so they are only 7 months old. Maybe after this thread gets some exposure in the General section I'll see if Half Shovel will move it to the How-To section. READ ON!!!

Jet Tech; I just put the filters in my king cab a couple of weeks ago. I didn't have the manual, but I knew that they were behind the glove box so I just started taking things apart. If I would have had your photos/ instructions it would have saved me a lot of time.
It is my understanding that only the crew cab comes with the filters. My kc le did not have them. I am surprised at how dirty yours were. You don't drive on many dirt roads do you? One third of my 4000 miles are on very dusty ranch roads. I bet mine are already dirty after a few weeks. Buy the way my dealer charged $15 a piece for the filters, which to my way of thinking is highly over priced.
Thanks again for the great instuctions, keep up the good work.

Nice pics/post, I myselft just installed these in me XE this morning. Unlike skyhammer though, mine came with installation instructions/drawings that made it easy.

Really good job, JetTech. A good example of 'How-to' for us all. And I write the stuff for a living. I'm printing these to add to my Maintenance files.

Again, nice job, dude!!

Bump

Guys,

This thread has been moved to the FAQ/How To section at JetTech's request.

If you haven't yet, you should check out Jet's "How To" instructions. I have manuals that aren't near as clear, or concise. JetTech's instructions come with great photos with labels no less. Anyone, and I mean anyone, should be able to do this with this kind of step by step help.

Thanks Dale!

Great job JetTech (Dale)! Your instructions are better than many of the factory/oem equipment installation instructions. You do a great service for us all and I just wanted to say...

Thanks!!!

Filters from Dealer?

I need to do this to my 10 month old Titan. Is the dealer the only place you can buy the filters?

Question Filters

Dealer wanted $10 more than Jamie.even with shipping it was less expensive than local dealer. You may have to have the innards scrubbed clean if you haven't used any filters that long!!!!
Anyone found filters with activated charcoal yet???

Those sure look a lot like the guts of my maxima's filters, except the maxima has carbon in their filters as well... maybe if you cut the plastic guide off a maxima it will fit right in?

Hmmm, maybe I'll have to take em out of the maxima to check, or just get a parts guy to bring up both to the counter...

From what I've been able to find out, none of the king cabs have them, but of course you can install them whenever you want.
