Unhappy Replacing headlight to HID

Today, I bought a pair of blue HID lowbeam bulbs for my CC LE 4x4. I can not find all the screws that hold the headlight assembly to get to the back to replace the low beam bulb. Is there an easier way to do it? Please advise. Thank you for all future help.

Remove 1 Phillips screw holding "plastic" fender liner, pull back liner enough for you to reach towards the back of the headlight assembly, twist the bulb 1/4 turn to remove "old bulb" from headlight assembly, replace bulb, THEN reinstall reversing previous steps. Hope this helps.

So where did you get the bulbs? Is there a big difference?

Thanks

Bought them from Pep-Boys. Paid $29 for the pair. There is no big difference in the brightness BUT the blue hue makes my eye less strained as opposed to the yellowish hue of the regular headlights. It's almost like comparing light characteristics of incandescent light to a flourescent bulb. It's a matter of personal preference.

For what it's worth, they arent HIDs they are just different bulbs. Also, it will be much harder for you to see the pavement in the rain with the blue bulbs.

And if you lived in good ol' PA you would get a nice ticket to go with the new bulbs. Picky people about having OEM equipment...

Most of the 50 states have vehicle laws that make the 'blue' lights on the front of any vehicle illegal (actually, ANY color light such as the blue lights you see under a vehicle and hood lights etc. are not legal). Some states just enforce the rules more than others. It's really just the discretion of the officer if he or she wants to stop you for it or not. Federal and state law basically states that other than amber (parking lights) and white headlights, any other color is illegal for safety reasons on the front of vehicle. In Maryland, it's a $50.00 fine.

Re: Replacing headlight to HID

I am in Lake Havasu Arizona, I work in Las Vegas, I have contacted both States D.O.T. and they are Legal. However living in the Tri State area, AZ. CA. NV. I drive in all 3 states. I also called California Highway Patrol, They said the Blue as well as Amber will get you a Ticket..........................However, I have a friend that bought a Lexus and lives in California, his car came equipt with HID Blue Headlights from the dealership. I would also like to add another issue, In AZ you only get 1 license plate, however in NV & CA, that is a no,no you must have both front and rear plates. So I am in violation technically. Oh and tinted windows are also unlawful in CA. Here in AZ the police have tinted windows, So... It will be an interseting day in a California Court if I am ever cited.

The Lexus does not have "blue headlights" All OEM HIDs are 4100K - 4300K in color temp. The blue scatter you see from time to time is caused by the lenses and not the light itself. If you walk up to a lexus with its lights on or shine their lights on a wall you will see they are pure white.

Re: Replacing headlight to HID

I live in york PA and have 10,000k in my Gixx, Titan and my commuter Mirage that I drive to Baltimore 6 days a week. Never had a problem from any cops. There is a difference between Blue bulbs that emit a s#itty light and HID.
