How to use your fixed extender with Truxedo.

With the Truxedo, you can't flip the extender . Even if you take it out completely and flip, you still can't slide the pivots on to to slots. Here is how I modified mine.

1. First, trim off the slots so that the extender can slide on to without having to be flipped it up. I trimmed the front edges (toward the front of the car) so the extender can not slide backward when in use. Now, the extender are not locked down any more and something need to hold the exterder down tight.

2. On the extender, replace the black bolts that screwed through the pivots with 1/2 in longer bolts. I chose ones with the loop on one end so I can screw/unscrew by hands and they are sized 1/4x4" long (wing bolts are better, but I couldn't find them that long).

3. Screw those new loop bolts through the pivots all the way across until they hit the mounting plates. Mark where the bolts touch the plate before remove extender (now with the longer bolts) from the slots. Drill a 1/4 hole on each side where you marked earlier. Put the exterder back and screw those new bolts all the way through the holes on the plates until they hit the bed's walls. Now you extender is locked down.

If someone find the 1/4x4" wing bolt or something similar, please advise. They look better than the loop bolts. Stainless steel is even better. Thanks

No, I din't take the pics. I'll take some when I have a chance. There's also another fix done by someone else which requires a little more work but you can flip it .
