cleaning floor utili-track

well i carried hay bales in my truck and didnt use the covers. So now I have peices of hay in the tracks. they have already started to rust so water wont work. I tried to vacum them but the vacum died I tried to blow them out but I just goes up in the air and comes back down. SO I am asking how you guys think I should do it.

thanks in advance

I had a similar problem after hauling mulch. I had to use a stiff bristled broom and work them over pretty good to get everything out.

The tracks rust? I thought they were aluminum or stainless steel? I don't have them so I wouldn't know. But I would have thought Nissan would do better than that.

They are aluminum and the rails won't rust. The hardware will rust, though.

Thanks. I would imagine the 2 minutes of spraying water down the tracks isn't going to hurt the rust problem too much. If a blower gets them moving then a stream of water will certainly do the trick. Just open your cover and let everything dry out before closing it up again.

Again, I don't have the tracks but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

No rain did the rust. The bolts in the utilitrack rusted, not the utilitrack it self.

I've done the same thing to clean the tracks after hauling mulch for each of the last 3 weekends. I'm waiting to get a bed mat so it won't be as much of a pain to clean in the future. I've only found 1 place that sells the bed mats designed for the Titan (i.e., not universal fit), and they said the manufacturer has them on backorder until June.

When I get junk in there from landscaping the best way I've found to get rid of it is to park on a slant and use one the the hose nozzles that have the jet or high pressure setting with the tailgate down. For me it has worked to get out dried mud, rocks, etc. Just takes a little bit of time and high water pressure. So far the hardware hasn't rusted on mine from this method.

I have this problem whenever I haul mulch. I use an 18" blogun attached to my air compressor. Because the gun is 18" long I have enough length to reach over the side of the bed and put the end of the blogun in the track channel itself. This works pretty good for me. I don't even have to crawl up into the bed to clean it.

I've got some muddy footprints on the spray-in liner that I can't seem to get off. Yesterday I soaked the floor of the bed with degreaser, then scrubbed it with a deck brush and rinsed well but they are still there. Any ideas?

Right, I know that. I just wondered if you had a similar problem hauling. Scrubbing didn't seem to get them out for me.

I haven't heard about footprints before. You've got me stumped.
