Bed Extender How to???

My Titan came with the Utility kit but had the sliding floor tray. I took that out and purchased from Nissan the bed extender. It did not come with any instructions. I understand how to put it up by the cab out of the way and how to use it to create a small space by the tailgate. Both of which are great. My wife owns an antique store. I am always hauling furniture and it is great to push the extender against something to hold it in place. The two questions I have are. 1. What are the little flat belts on the extender for?
2. If you know the load is going to require the bed extender is there anyway to get it out of the way other than total removal? I know that is probably a silly question just wanted to see what others have done.

Thanks

The straps lock into the tailgate latches on either side for extra strength. If you ratate the bed extender cage 90 degrees ( so that it is facing down at the truck bed) you can lift it off the brackets without having to remove the brackets and all from the utilitrack.

the straps also keep the extender from flopping up when its sitting on an open tailgate.
