So... after having my axle seals replaced after 23,500 miles, I got the Toyota part, and did the mod. The Toyota part fit, but wouldn't go in to the shoulder. Here are yet one more set of photos...

Like another user posted earlier I have been lurking in the shadows of the site for quite some time and have benefited immensely. So...thanks first and foremost. I have a question about this mod...
Has anyone done this mod with a 6" lift? I have heard most needed approx 7' of tubing but I am wondering if the length or anything else in the instructions or parts needed would be altered...thanks!

If you are not sure of the length then just purchase 8' of line hose and run it. You only need to make sure you have enough slack between the axle and frame as you need enough slack for the suspension to fully extend. If you have extra, then cut the hose.
I attached mine with zip ties along the axle, along the spring and when I got to the shackle left slack enough for the spring to extend all the way, then attached to the frame and up to the light. I found a nice terrace and drove the truck across it and got out and checked the slack. I used 8 feet, but I am not lifted.

thanks for the response guys. I actually checked my rear diff and axles today and found that my rear passenger side brake disc has axle oil leaking on it. I found the thread on registering a complained to the federal department and am going to do so. Also, I have an appt. to take the truck into the dealership. The guy told me it wasn't covered under the 60k drivetrain warranty but I am calling BS on that.
Soon as I get it out of the shop I will do this mod. Thanks again.

Mine was covered under the 5 year 60k warranty. If they give you a hard time, I'd call Nissan directly or find another dealership.

I did the mod today with the toyota part. I have 2 questions:
1. The toyota part did not thread completely flush with the axle. Is that correct? I was afraid to overtighten it and possibly strip the therads.
2. Does it matter which way the filter arrow goes? I have it installed right now that the filter arrow is pointing towards the line going back to the axle. Should it be going to the smaller piece pointing away from the axle?
Hope that makes sense. I did it because I had the marks of weeping seals and there was some leak marks around the old vent. This should not void any warranty should it?
The fitting has Pipe threads and will Not thread all the way flush to the tube.
The arrow on the filter should point Away from the axle. Some have a check valve in them, with it pointed at the axle the vacuum will pull the valve closed and you will have the same problem as with the stock vent.

Thanks for the reply. I got the purolator f20011 filter, which i am pretty sure does not contain a check valve. In looking at the other pictures of the other installs, it looked like the filter was installed with the arrow pointing toward the axle. Does it matter which way the arrow points if there is no check vlave in the filter?

Make sure you don't use a check valve filter. Many of the valves are built into one end and you really can't see the valve and may mistaken the filter as non-valved, but it may have one. I found many that looked non-valved but turned out those had one. I ended up with a fram or wix filter that was free flowing in both directions.
