Uhhhh, they should be able to order it, and there shouldn't be a shipping charge.

Re: Axle vent issue and solution

I can get it locally for $6.49, but it would be a couple of days to get it in.

Re: Axle vent issue and solution

is it really necessary to run the hose all the way up behind the tail light? i dont off road or play in water. just curious if i can get away with placing it under the truck somewhere other than behind the tail lights.

I did the axle vent mod 2 years ago, and I had an axle seal leak last year, and the truck is in the shop today with the pinion seal leaking. The parts manager, who is very knowledgeable and helpful, actually told me about the mod this morning. I told him that I had done it 2 years prior. Still, very glad to hear good advice at the parts counter. I had pressure in my axles when I originally removed the stock breather, and after hearing the rush of air when I took it off, I have no faith in the stock assembly at all.

+1 for my dealership. They're pretty good. And that's a good thing, because my truck likes to leak oil from at least 2 different places each year.

Re: Axle vent issue and solution

Did the mod this morning after having the passenger side rear seal replaced last week....lets hope for the best.....

6 feet of fuel tubing was JUST enough...if I had to do it again I would get 7 or 8 feet.....

Re: Axle vent issue and solution

Just got back from the seal replacement, I had done the mod approx 10 months ago, they don't replace just the seal at my dealership, the put a whole new axle in the left drivers side on my 06. They said that they had been doing just the seal but it comes back to them in 10K miles or so anyhow, so not sure if it is Nissan's doing with a whole axle change but they did that on mine.
