Re: Axle vent issue and solution

you should do it if your axle will ever get wet. In florida the rainy season creates some deep puddles around here plus I go off-road so I need to do the mod. As far as dunking a boat I doubt you'll be getting the axle underwater.... but better safe than sorry

Re: Axle vent issue and solution

Anyone happen to know if this Toyota fitting will work on a 07 Nissan Xterra as well? I'm thinking about doing the same mod on my wife's Xterra. I would assume it would thread right in since its a Nissan as well, but we all know what sometimes happens when we assume things.

Toyota part # 90404-51026

Re: Axle vent issue and solution

What a great, simple mod. Buy eight feet of hose though. I kinda gave mine some slack at the axle for room to play, and then ran it through the frame. Then out the back of the frame and up to behind the tail light. With 7' of hose I didn't have enough left to curl it over the tailgate "relief spring" or whatever it's called so I just zip-tied it to the base of the tailgate spring thing.

So buy 8'

Re: Axle vent issue and solution

Was the stock valve redesigned on the 08+ axles and if so does is the MOD necessary?
Has any 08+ owners done this MOD?
