Utili-track Bed Tricks
Hey all , I got some extra ideals from an old thread about attaching other thing to the utili-track bed system . The thread was great and a great read for anyone who hasn't looked at it.Utili-track, standard nuts and bolts?
I attached two pics of what I used with channel nuts I got from Unistrut and some diffrent length bolts from ace hardware. I bolted a 3 rod holder to the inside of the bed as extra storage for travel , I got the holder from west marine. The bike mounts are from yakima like the other tread stated , the part name is "blockhead" these also come in locking versions. The unistrut cost about 70 cents each but the guy at the parts counter gave me my 10 for free. And it was $2-3 for all the bolts and washers. The blockheads were 20 a piece and the locking were 40ish . Still thinking of other uses for the bed , now that I can bolt directly to the bed its almost unlimited.The bike mounts specifically made for our bed system that i found were about $70 plus dollars, so I think this is a pretty good deal. Want to thank Geoff for the info on the unistrut .

Was chatting with my neighbor <contractor> and he has the GMC 2500 and wishes he had the utili-track on his , he wanted to mount tool holders to his bed and be able to remove them and just arrange them to hold other stuff, love to hear some ideals of other uses for the system

I did the exact same thing with my blockheads - gotta love unistrut. I also mounted my fire extinguisher to the utilitrack the same way. My only suggestion would be to use stainless steel or aluminum hardware to keep things rust free.
For your neighbor, have him check out http://www.hi-lift.com/products/slide_n_lock.htm It looks to be an aftermarket type utilitrack.
