Removing door panels

So how do I remove the door panels to say, put new speakers in. I see very few fasteners if any and I don't want to just start pulling!

Re: Removing door panels

Under the arm rest there are bolts and behind the grab handle(small cover) there are two bolts. You need to be careful when doing the removal so you don't break anything. I believe the rest are just held on with plastic clips
you may need to replace some. Search some of the other forums to double
check my info.

Re: Removing door panels

remove the beuty covers from the door with a pick.you will need a long philips screwdriver to remove 4 screws and pull out the door panel. Start at one corner and work you way around the panel then to install remove any orange clips left in the door install in the door panel then press the panel back into the door.

Re: Removing door panels

Check out that armrest. Believe it or not it lifts straight up. You can try pulling on it but you'll prolly just break the clips. Instead, hit it in an upwards motion with the meat of your palm (right where it meets your wrist). Start kinda easy and then build up the force until it pops off. One of my doors is a piece of cake, the other I have to hit that thing pretty hard.

Also on the handle there's a chunk of SOFT plastic wedged in there. Gently work a very small flathead into there and pry it out. You can place a rag behind the screwdriver to protect the handle or do like I do and just stick your finger in there and use your finger as the pivot point. After that its just a few screws and then sliding your fingers behind the panels to pop out the clips. I've had my panels off numerous times and almost never break a clip even though I don't use a tool. Just gotta slide your fingers as close as you can to the next clip and then push off the door w/ your thumb to get a good solid pull.

Re: Removing door panels

I'm pretty sure there are more than four screws. It's either five or six if I remember right. Under the trim piece on the door handle there are definitely two and then there is at least 1 under the armrest and then under the door lever there are two screws covered by two trim pieces (one inside the other). There are three clips attaching the armrest and I broke two of them on the driver-side door. I also broke the door-pull trim piece on the pass. door and on the rear left door I broke the window switch bezel. I'm a real pro!! But I ignore the armrest and replaced the other two pieces for a total of $6.00 and some change from everythingnissan.com Pretty cheap stuff thankfully!
