Hey Guys - i'm pretty much a newbie here; great site, lotsa good info.
Need your help. I bought nerf bars and had 'em shipped to me and will be doing the install this weekend. The instructions (i know, real men don't read instructions) specify removing the "side body mount bolts" and attaching the nerf bar brackets to the body mount brackets using the same bolts. The instructions specify tightening the nerf bars to the nerf bar brackets with a torque wrench to specific ft.lbs. but do NOT specify how many ft.lbs to torque the side body mount bolts back to... Any help would be much appreciated.
FYI, I searched the threads and didn't see anything; I apologize if I missed a FAQ on this.
Use a 1/2 drive ratchet and tighten them as much as you can, as long as you don't weigh over 300.

Thanks. Would you recommend using thread locker on it? I'd hate to be driving down the highway and have my cab fly off!!
That's not necessary. I checked those 4 bolts after a few weeks, and one of them took another 1/2 turn. Months later, I rechecked again, and all were tight.

I hand tightened them with a wrench.... which was not a great idea, 2 of the bolts broke in half, do yourself a favor and use the Torque wrench. I also used the loctite on mine, can't hurt.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Any idea how tight with the torque wrench? I was thinking of calling the local service department and asking them, but they probably just use an impact wrench...
Interesting. The instructions for the bars says to tighten their bolts to 35 or 65 (depending on the bolt). But then again, they don't have rubber body mounts...
fyi - I loctite everything I put on the outside of my tuck, It's cheap, EZ and I'd rather do that than watch something fall off while driving down the highway.

Hi All. Newbie here. Just got the Titan and love it! What takes me so long to get it....
Anyway, I also got the nerf bar that needs to be attached to the side body mount (crew cab model).
Do anybody knows how the side body mount bolt is attached - is there a nut at the end of the side body mount bolt; if yes, how do I access it (from inside the cab?) Then again, perhaps the frame is treaded and there is no bolts on the other end.... Anybody knows for sure? Many thanks in advance!
