Questions on new brake pad installation.

I have an 04 Titan SE and going to try and replace my front brake pads myself. I have had the brake jitter fix done. I bought the OEM front brake pads.

1. Do I need to turn the rotors?

2. Do I need to replace the torque member bolts? I called nissan and they said $121 for the "brake hardware kit" which only included both bolts.

3. Any Tips?

It's a good idea to turn the rotors or the new pads might be wear down prematurely.

1. Most likely, yes. At a minimum, you need to check them for run-out.

2. I know Nissan recommends replacing them, although I'm not sure if everyone follows that.

3. Clean everything and use some CRC Disc Brake Quiet to prevent squeaks.

Should I put anything on the bolts since I will not be replacing them? Some kind of locking spray or lube? I thought I read something about that somewhere.

Blue Loc-Tite and torque them to the service manual specs. and you should be good to go.

When I replaced my pads and rotors, I also used Blue Lock-Tite on the torque member bolts also. Be warned, they are a real pain to remove. I had to use an impact wrench on them.

That being said, you do not need to remove the torque member bolts is you are only changing the pads, and leaving the rotors in place.

If you haven't had any issues with the brakes since the judder fix, I would just replace the pads and be done with it. No need to replace the other stuff IMO. I wouldn't bother with the blue loctite either. Anytime I work on brakes, I put everything back together with hi temp anti-sieze so it comes apart easier the next time. I've never had a problem doing it this way. As long as things are tight when you assemble it, everything will be fine.

No lock-tite per manual; torque 155 ft-lbs. The ''replace torque member bolts'' is probably based on the high torque and the bolts have stretched.
