8" Lift With 3" Body?

Hello everybody...well I decided to stick with this setup for awhile now and D-Days coming up for the install. But I was just wondering, with CST's 8" lift how difficult is it to add a 3in body on top of it? Does th body lift rest on top of the spindle, or is it in a totally different spot?

First time lifter, quite new at this

Thanks,
Ryan

Re: 8" Lift With 3" Body?

Body lift is just that, it lifts the body off the frame. All the body mounts are replaced with taller ones. I wouldn't recommend it. Leaves gaps, everyone sees more of your frame. Your bumpers have to be lifted or you have an ugly gap. Your hitch hangs down low, and your spare tire becomes very visible. The radiator shroud has to be modified, as well as the steering linkage (on most body lifts.)

Re: 8" Lift With 3" Body?

Thanks sammy! yea I've heard many mixxed things about body lifts. A few friends of mine have Titans with body kits and they havent had a single problem, they just installed those gap guards and torqued up the spare tire a bit and looks pretty damn good to me...though a 2.5 inch leveling kit is also a consideration, do you think i should do that instead?

I'd rather not get BP's system or FTS's 15" Lifts because they're like gagunda big so i think 10.5 or 11in should be JUST fine...

Thanks again for your imput Sammy...

Re: 8" Lift With 3" Body?

Is your truck a 2WD or 4WD?

I noticed you plan on 35" tires, is there a reason you want more than 8" of lift?

Re: 8" Lift With 3" Body?

2WD...Well I didn't know if there was a superior difference between 37's and 35's. I do my fair share of off-roading and I have a feeling those 37's would rip my fenders off if I did any flexing, sio I thought 35's would be just the right fit, but I think im going to go with PRG's leveling kit and the 8in CST with 35" Tires...WAY cheaper and looks like a better buy...

If you get the fabtech lift, PRG can get you over 10" of ALL suspension lift with it.

Re: 8" Lift With 3" Body?

10"+ of lift and 35"s is going to be a whole lotta wheel well, not good looking IMHO.

Re: 8" Lift With 3" Body?

Well would I be able to roll 37's under that? Because I plan on offroading and flexing is a big concern...I can lower the saws and the truck would sit at about a regular 8 in height, which works well enough for me...but yes i completely agree, too big of a lift and too small of tires looks rather hokey and cheap, not a good look at all...

And yellowmantis, how could the 6in be raised up to 10? I didn't think coilovers or blocks could do THAT much...

Re: 8" Lift With 3" Body?

Search for Austin's truck. He was an old member with the "special" Fabtech lift and 37"s. He's got a webpage (at least he used to) with tons of pictures and how-to's.

Something that Greg does with a combination of parts. I'm not sure what parts are involved, so I won't speculate. I would highly suggest calling him.

Re: 8" Lift With 3" Body?

Nice truck there CBurns! So Would you reccomend going for the 3in body lift? Or would I still be able to fit 37's if I got the leveling kit instead? =/
