Short story - I have to buy XE. Nissan claims utilitrack channels from SE will not work in XE because of structural differences between beds

I did some hunting and found the following product as similar to the UtiliTrack Nissan offers:

Slide Systems - Very much like UtiliTrack system - no drilling required - many possible accessories including toolboxes - aluminum "dock plate" - very nice (IMHO): http://www.slidesystems.com/home.html

Slide-N-Lock - Track and Tie downs only - may require drilling.

I'd like a stock SE with the utility bed package. You can't get utility bed without a popular package. I'm not willing to spend $1200 for power seats, in order to pay another $900 get the bedliner and rails. It starting to sound like the factory bedliner is substandard anyway.

to have a hard cover over the bed with a slider or would the clamps get in the way of it sliding?

I don't know the absolute answer, you might want to look on Slide Systems' page of compatible products. Some of the nicer ones like LSII and Checkerpro
don't appear to be on the list, although there are some sliding alternatives like Fold-a-cover and Peragon's aluminum sliding bed cover. That said Slide System is apparently in development for thier products on the Titan. I am in the midst trying to secure some more detail info from them now. Hopefully the list of hard cover products will expand as the Checkerpro is supposedly compatible with Nissan's Utillitrac, maybe the same will be the case with Slide Systems. I will update this thread with information when I recieve it as I am keenly intrested in the product and the use of hard covers.

Boy do I hear ya...

I think one of the best things Nissan could do for the Titan in 2005 is break out some of these packages!

I would like the rear side storage bin, but I don't want the utility track, or the factory sprayed liner, or the power outlet or the lights in the tailgate area. So if I really want the storage bin I need to drop an extra grand and get a lot of stuff I don't want... :bang head on rock:

This is where I got my slide-n-locks. I know I drive a ford, but it was a purchase of necessity in Jan of 2003 and I am looking forward to getting my White SE Crew Cab 4x4 soon. There is a bunch of drilling involved (every 10" on center to get the full load rating) but you can skip a few holes if you dont need the full 1000lb rating. I got these because they do not sit on top of the bedrail and sit flush with the top of the bedrail. Very nice clean look. Hope to be talking about my new Titan soon.

The word from Slide Systems is that they have something in development for the Titan, but it won't be available until sometime in the summer. I guess that is the price you pay for being an "early adopter". By next year we'll all probably be swimming in aftermarket add-ons.
