Help with Tow Hitch Wiring

OK, so I picked up a used cap for the T. Need to wire the high mount stop lamp on the cap.

I run 14 Gauge to the back of the 7-pin trailer plug (I have big tow).

Connect + on High Mount to Green wire since it glowed when wifey stepped on the brake pedal.

Connect - to black wire behind trailer connection.

Everything works great, high mount lights with brake pedal- looks good.

However, when the blinker is on, the high mount blinks too.

1) Did I connect + side to wrong wire?

2) Can anyone tell me which color on an '07 is for the brakes.

3) I have read about a logic box that may be needed to prevent this. DOes anyone know if that's the case here?

I would prefer to wire to the trailer harness rather than the back of the tailight assembly, but I guess I could change to that if I needed too. I was afraid to put additional current draw on the taillamp so that's why I went to the trailer harness.

I am pretty sure you have 2 hot (one left, one right) wires in the trailer plug for the trailer brake lights which are a combo stop/turn.
You will have to pull power from some other place in the truck to get the CHMSL to work.

When my cap was installed they pulled power from within the tail light housing. It's a shorter run and no guessing as to which wire to use. In case you haven't already found it, there is a hole within the tail light cavity to get to the bed. That's a handy spot to run the wires up to the cap. Otherwise, I have no idea which wire is which at the trailer connection.

Looks like tomorrow I'll pull it out and wire to the left tail light assy.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that mine is wired through the drivers side tail light. I don't remember what the passenger tail light cavity looks like or if it has the same hole to the bed.
