So am I the first smashed Titan? Now with Pics

Yes sadly I have to report that when I came out this morning to look do some work around a house we are cleaning out I found that my truck had been hit overnight infront of my house. Unfortunately no one saw anything, no real clues and obviously no note or anything. The police gave me a report to fill out myself but obviously they aren't looking for anything. The truck sustained some pretty significant damage for a hit and run. The bumper is bent inward, the drivers side fender and compartment are crushed inward, the passenger side fender has paint damage from where the bumper touched it and the tailgate is pretty bent at the bottom. I'll have pictures tomorrow but I am pretty concerned about the shop being able to get parts for it I am thinking somewhere in the 4-5k dollar area. Just what I needed

Sadly you aren't the first. Hawaaahhhh has been involved in one and so have I. Mine ($1400) wasn't as bad as yours but it still hurts.

I got mine 4 hours after I put on my Banks exhaust, by a kid who wasn't paying attention when he backed up. So like my thread said "It was the best of days and the worst of days". . . .

Remember, it can (and will be) fixed, although I know that's little consolation at the moment.

"I feel your pain."

I really feel for you. I am some what hesitatant to take mine (when after it comes in next week) to the dealers just based on the cramped quarters of the service bays. I've been back there (in the car while the service manager was driving, yikes!) and it wouldn't surprise me to see a Titan or Armada getting dented or scratched.

That's why I don't park my cars anywhere. I just keep them moving, like a KC-10 Supertanker, constantly on the move. The only time I stop is at home base (a.k.a. my garage).

Do you live on a big street or on a small suburban street? If it's a small street then chances are it's someone who lives in the area, in which case you might want to cruise the neighborhood and look for other cars with that kind of damage.

I live on a dead end street but sadly I fear that the person is long gone or they would have already been found as I have pretty significant damage. The pics really don't show the compartment crushing and the tailgate will not open or latch correctly. Anyone have a guess on damage? I was thinking in the 5k area its going through insurance

ill bet it was a drunk driver....sorry to hear bout your truck...one thing you might want to do take a ride around a couple blocks and see if you find any other cars with damage and then see if they have any of your paint on their car.

Where is point of impact? Looks to me that damage wasn't done by speeding car or SUV.Most likely it was done by slow moving, heavy vehicle. How about truck(did anyone on your street move on that day), or better yet garbage truck? Those guys rarely look where they back up.

Mine was estimated at $1400. You will need some of the same parts.

Rear bumper assembly $434.23 parts + labor 1.5 hours to r&r ($70.00/hr)

so $700 for the bumper alone, you are looking at least that for the tailgate.

Mine had the opposite side damaged in the same area and the estimate for that was 2.5 hours for repair @ $70/hr +
3.5 hours paint @$70/hr +1.2 hours clear coat @$70/hr
.5 hr to reproduce tint, etc, etc, etc.

So bottom line 3-5K is probably a very good ballpark estimate.

Your insurance should cover everything minus your deductible.

Doesn't look like there were any paint transfers to the Adam Henry that hit you, probably a bumper to bumper collision. Were there any debris around from his/her vehicle? Otherwise you will probably never find the baddy that hit you. Heck if it were a big vehicle or an old one, he/she may not even be damaged!

I'm so sorry you have to go through all this,

That ding looks like a trailer hitch ball mark.
I always keep the tongue & ball on to help stop a slow rear impact, perhaps a bad backer-outer nearby keeps his on as well... but it wasn't me.

What a downer, sorry.

ACK!

I was in a minor accident about a month ago. It was nothing compared to what happened to you. I am really sorry. Just get that baby into the shop ASAP and set your mind at ease. Good luck

My guess is that it was a very large heavy vehicle that hit the truck because there was really no debris or paint transfer (some brown but very little) I don't suspect a trashtruck because it wasn't trash day however we have contractors in and out all the time, really I don't even expect to ever find out who did it. The point of impact is pretty visible in the second picture where you see the circle on the bumper. I've been underneath the truck and save for the side storage compartment there is really no underlying damage. The storage compartment looks like it just pops in and out so they can probably just remove that and order a new one. I am concerned just because I can't get it open or close and the tailgate isnt latching correctly. I guess I am mad but I've already been through that stage. I'm sorta at the point where what can you do? I love my truck and just want it fixed. As enthusiasts I'm sure you guys know the feeling of not being able to even drive the truck without knowing it has a dent on it. No matter insurance is involved and I'll be getting an estimate monday and immediately scheduling repair.

I agree....sorta looks like a hitch ball at the impact area. Also looks like the tailgate corner 'caught' on something and thus the bend back outward there. I would be looking for a 'brown' colored Ford pickemup with some of your color on it

Hope they get you taken care of quickly on the repair side. I for one am pretty anal about my vehicles and can't stand people who don't respect other peoples.

Chris
