Taking the Titan in to dealership...

I'm scared. All of these reports of dealerships taking advantage of customers and the generally crappy service that Nissan provides has me worried that when i take my truck in for a check of the service engine light that i'm going to find it on cinder blocks with the windows smashed and "HAHA LOSER!" carved on the hood. Can i do anything? Like insure it or have them sign something? Take pictures? We've had a few bad experiences with the local Nissan dealership where i'm taking it since the other nearest one is about 80 miles away. Any advice or do i just put my baby in their hands and pray that i don't get shafted?

make sure you do a visual inspection with you service advisor. do a walk around and if you have any scratches make sure you show them and tell the advisor you dont want anymore. thats what i did and i also told the advisor i would do a walk around after service with him present. i think that makes them realize you are serious about yoiur vehicle and how its treated.

I have to say I'm a touch worried about bringing my Titan in for service too, after reading all these tales. Mine didn't come with fog lights and part of the sale deal was to have them installed, which is being done this Tuesday. If they screw up, it'll be the last Nissan I buy.

Service is very important to me. In Tucson, the only Hummer dealer is at a Buick dealership and that was one of the two major reasons I didn't even consider an H2 -- I didn't think a Buick dealership would give me the level of service I'd expect for dropping 50k or so. (The other reason was the largest demographic I see driving H2s are fat 30 something blondes!)

So yeah, you're not the only one that's concerned after reading the numerous posts here. Anyone have any positive stories about Nissan service?

Edit: corrected egregious spelling mistake.

I've taken my titan twice to the dealer now. There were small scratches that needed to be buffed out, so i let them have the truck for a few hours to take care of them. I was so mad when i got my truck back because not only did they not get the scratches out, they put some really bad swirl marks on the paint!! I also noticed the rear door panel started to bubble. the second time around they did everything right, and they even fixed my center console (i couldn't lock it). I got my titan from metro nissan in montclair, CA btw.

If you are that concerned about scratches, etc. Why not use your digital camera (assuming you have one) and snap pictures of your truck before you take her in. Make sure your digital date stamps the pics too.

Follow Got_Titan's advice. That would be the best. Even pictures won't do no good. Have in hand a notebook write down the service advisors name or who you did the walkthrough with make sure he agrees with you on the condition of the vehicle ask to run a copy of the notes on their copier have the service advisor clip the notes to your records(work order) keep the copy. Make sure when you go back you do another walkthrough verify the notes are attached to the workorder just in case you now have someone else on the shift helping you and both of you verify the vehicle's condition and agree upon it. If they give you a hardtime to follow this REQUIREMENT speak directly to the svc. mgr. and General mgr. of the dealership and insist upon it.

Well, my dad took it in today and to my horror, THERE'S A 20" GASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR!

.... just kidding... haha. Everything went well and my dad said that it was a broken O2 sensor and that they would order a new one in the next few days. Btw, my dad ordered step rails while he was there. SAWEEEEET!
