Starter replacement

Anyone looked at what it takes to replace the starter on this thing? According to the manual, you have to remove the intake manifold and fuel rails, along with the injectors. The starter is under all this mess in the valley of the engine.

Could they have made it any harder?

Beginning to miss my domestics already.

What happened to your starter? Shouldn't it be covered under warranty?

Where did you get a copy of the manual? I have noticed that the engine compartment is PACKED!!

Matt

My starter did not go out....just looking into the future at the usual stuff that needs to be replaced.

As far as the manual..go to http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissan/ and do a search for the Titan service manual. You can buy a one day subscription for $20 .

I would imagine by the time you need to replace the starter you will be driving a semi hydrogen vehicle anyway. I have yet to blow a starter in any Japanese auto short of 150,000 miles but since the Titan is more domestic than the domestics perhaps we can expect starter problems?
Perhaps this is where a starter should be, tucked up out of the elements, clean running flywheel, less flex area?

It that because you like to replace parts that fail? I concur with Optimist.

Well I'm not having very good luck with mine! It dosn't want to disengage. After I start it, it sounds like it tries to start again. Sounds like the starter gear hiting the fly-wheel while it's trunning. And yes like I said in my (I have two new problems thread) you have to take some of the motor apart! I'm still hoping that there is some kind of relay or something I can check before having to take apart the motor.

Deepwater, I take it you haven’t taken it in? What do you plan to do, I can’t imagine this just taking care of itself & delaying the fix might degrade the teeth on both & overwork the starter. It shouldn't be to invasive.
Keep us posted would you & good luck.

Hey guys don't complain to loudly. For my cool Honda GL1800 Goldwing, I have to take everything off just to get to the air filter!

I think Honda charges 2 hours shop labor! I did it in about 4 hours myself in the garage the 1st time.

I sure everyone looked at the engine before buy this beast. I know I did and wondered how they got it in there. That is part of what makes the Titan look cool, and gives it the extra room inside. The fact that the hood is 1 1/2 feet too short!

They had to hide lots of things, hey just like my Yellow ABS GL1800!

But it sure makes it look cool!

None sense.. if the starter works for the first 10,000 miles or a year it will not fail until you sell your truck, this is my forth Nissan and non, repeat none had a starter problem....
For a moment I though I was at ford forum

Jokes aside, don't worry about the starter, it will not fail you....
