Question How do you get into bed?

I am having trouble climbing into the bed of my Titan. When the tailgate is down there is only enough space on the bumper to put half your foot. It is harder to climb into my Titan because the bed is higher than my former truck. It is really trecherous trying to get into the bed when it is all wet. On my truck that I used to own I would use the stake hole in the bed rail as a hand hold to help pull myself up. I noticed what looks like a knockout on the plastic that covers the bed rail. Have any of you removed this knockout? How does the truck look after this knock out is removed? I am a old guy and somewhat of a lard a%$ which makes things a little harder. I realize that a lot of you younger guys can leap like a gazelle and don't have a problem. What can a guy like me do? Loosing weight is not an option. I like to eat.

If you have a receiver hitch, you can get a step attachment for that.

What about a milk crate? You could bungie it to one of your tie downs in a corner when not in use.

I normally just step on the back tire to get in the bed in most pickups.

With the Frontiers I've had I would just step on the bumper. Can't do that with the Titan when the tailgates down. I just step on top of the back tire and pull myself up with the bed rails. Milk crate or RubberMaid step stool is a good idea though. Will probably have to go this route once the Tonneau gets put on.

I keep a boat cushion in the bed. I put the boat cushion on the lowered tailgate and raise my left leg, placing my knee on the boat cushion and pull myself to a kneeling position on the tail gate. From there I just stand up.

That HitchMate looks pretty cool. And no new holes in the tailgate required.

Well in my AV inset in the rear bumper at the corners are places to stick your feet and a handle at the top rear corner of the bed to pull up on.

It works great! too bad Nissan doesnt have that.

Or just pop out that insert, I believe it covers the stake pocket, would that give you enough of a hand hold?

Bayou, If I lived down there I would have the same problem. I love cajun cooking.

I use one of the tire steps. Just hook it on the tire, first step there then on the tire and in.

Nissan sells those as well for the xterra/frontier... I don't know if it will fit on a Titan wheel...
