Titan safety...F-150 too

Safety is the number one thing I consider when buying a vehicle. So how safe is the Nissan Titan?

How would the Titan rate in:
reliability - Nissan reliability is excellent
power for highway passing - excellent!
braking - excellent
rollover - seems good
visiblity - excellent (at least with King Cab)
handling (including rollover potential) - good
front and side impact protection - NOT SURE!!
rollover protection - NOT SURE!!

It is the last two I am concerned about.
Please add anything I missed.

I don't think they have tested the Titan yet.

I am pretty happy with the design of my Titan and I do feel that it would be "safe" in an accident. The one thing I found amazing about the article that you posted about the supercab's roof is that the guy was drinking and driving which caused the accident and they still awarded the family money makes ya wonder

The Detroit News articles state that most of the forces during a rollover are applied to the A-pillars. I wonder if the Titan's thicker A-pillars (as compared to other models) will offer more protection.

Looks like the new 2004 F150 made some huge improvements in crash worthiness: http://www.hwysafety.org/vehicle_rat.../html/0328.htm

I'm sure a lot of this is from the lawsuits from previous years. I guess Ford learned it's lesson.

I feel safe driving the Titan, but I grew up riding in the back of pickups and laying on mattress in the back of a station wagon. Man, have things changed. You are considered a child abuser today if you don’t send your kids out looking like a gladiator to ride their bike.

Yes, I am hoping they do more than just block my view.

I hope that it holds up like the new f150. I also hope those A pillars do something good besides obstruct small towns. All the airbags in the world wont do anything if the passenger compartment is crushed. Lets all hope we are driving not only a reliable truck(I know we are) but a safe one. And props to f150 and their engineers for the very good test results.

Drive defensively (and sometimes Offensively) and your safety factor increases immensely.

There are more Stupid drivers than ever - it's them that I watch out for - and so far the Titan hasn't failed me.
