Hey guys. I'm going to be towing my buddy's fishing boat over the break. It's between 18-22 feet but I don't know the wait. Is it okay to run my truck on Light Tow with this load or should I just go back to stock to be safe. Also, proper procedure for towing is in 4 (instead of D) with tow mode ON, correct?
Thanks fellas

I would guess the weight would be 3500#-4500#, so I really wouldn't worry too much. Yes, you are correct about the gear selection, although on flat highway with a lighter trailer like that you could get away with using D without problems.

Definately use the Tow Mode. Thats exactly what it was designed for. I haven't personally used mine but i have read others saying it made a difference. Let us know how it worked.

You're referring to the Tow Mode button, correct? I know to use that. I always use Tow Mode when I'm pulling something, but I was just curious because I haven't had the Superchips tune. I just wanted to make sure that the weight of the boat wouldn't be too much for the Light Tow tune.
Thanks

But is the boat light enough to tow with the Light Tow tune or should I run it stock?
I was referring to the Towing Tune on your Superchips. If you have a Titan with the tow mode switch use it too and tow out of OD. If the boat ends up feeling really light try OD. You should be able to tell if its dogging too much in OverDrive.

Dude when superchips means light tow they mean 11,000 lb lol

I would only use tow mode if your in hills and involving alot of gear changes. But if you are going on flat terrain.....aka the desert, D is just fine. Big-tow gears allow you to be in high gear without shifting down once your up to speed. The tow haul mode button just holds gears longer. Selecting 4th gear for the whole trip would be over kill seeing that your 5th gear in the BT package is the equivalent to a 4th gear.
