Has this ever happened to you?

We parked the Titan at my grandmother's retirement, turned off the truck and took my keys with me. As I talked to my grandma, my wife got done with her errand and went back to the truck to wait. She put her keys into it, and put the windows down and turned on the Cubs game. I got done visiting, and got into the drivers seat to start the truck, and all the truck did was crank over without starting. Of course, me being paranoid enough about trading in a perfectly good 2001 Tundra for my new Titan, I am all of the sudden very concerned about the fact that this truck with 2000 miles won't start! I don't smell any gas anywhere, even though it's fuel injected and all electronic everything, I still thought I might smell alittle fuel out of the tailpipe if it was flooded. You can't help but pump the pedal alittle if it doesn't want to kick on. So I open the hood, look around alittle more, and my wife says, try your keys. Sure enough, it started. She has keys for my truck from the dealership. Anybody know what happened?

I had a VW Passat that would run for about 5 seconds and stop if the key was not registered with the imobilizer system.

Not sure, but sounds like you may have a key that has not been registered with your vehicle.

Regards,
Matt

take both of your keys back to the dealer and tell him/her what happened these key come with a chip inside of them that will let you open your door but not let you start your truck take it back and make sure your key is programed to your truck right

Well something is amis...The third key is supposed to be the "valet" key, meaning that it should open and start the car, but do nothing else (i.e., open the center consol lock or the lock box outside).

I guess I failed to note that the key my wife has also has a chrome emblem, thus the question!

Did you try her key again. If so, did it still fail to start the truck??

the key you were trying to use hasn't been programed into the Nats sys your dealer should program all your keys at the same time for no charge it should have been done before you bought the truck
