tow relay

Can anyone tell me if there trailor tow relay is the same as the backup light relay. These are both located in the small fuse box behind the battery. I have an xe without the tow package and I need this relay. But I need to be sure if this is the right one.

Question

XE,

Did you add brake controller yourself? Is the XE prewired or not? Just got my XE yesterday, and will be adding (or having someone else do it) brake controller very soon.

Thanks for any help!

Taken from an earlier post.... If thumbnail does not appear do a search on relay.

I received my Nissan hitch from Jamie today, and it installed easily.
However, I think the U.P.S. guy strained a nut unloading it, and my
neighbors all disappear when you need a hand. I put the hitch on a
piece of plywood on top of my floorjack, and that really helped getting
it into position.

KD, the two relays came with my hitch, and all you have to do is take
the lid off the smaller of the two fuse boxes behind the battery. The
smaller one is closest to the battery. You will see a brown relay for
backup lights in the upper left corner, with a place to plug in a relay
right beside it and another right below it (towards grill). This is where the
2 new relays go, but I don't know what each does. It is impossible to
install them incorrectly, as the plugs on each are different. I have an
SE 4x4 KC no big tow also, so your truck's fuse box should look like
mine.

Hope this picture helps, Steve.
