Question Warranty ? regarding wheel/tire change

I am thinking about buying a Titan CC 4x4. I want to be able to put a set of 20 or 22 inch wheels without having o worry about voiding the warranty. i have seen a couple of people with larger rims so i am hoping to get any feedback from what the dealer told you guys. Thanks!

there should be no warranty issues with the tires and wheels because they will not cause a problem

To my knowledge...as long as you have correct offset etc...no issue...

Do NOT include any adapters or spacers though...this could cause an issue as you will have 'added' these.

You wont void warranty with just rims, and tires. If you alter anything suspension too make your tires fit, then your going too void warranty on suspension. Also, if you choose larger diameter tires you will need speedo adjusted. Its all computer now, so dealer can do it for around $50.

Make sure you have adequate clearance for whatever wheels + tires you want to use, including full suspension travel and lock-to-lock steering.

Thanks alot guys.. just so you know, i talked to a sales manager at the local nissan and asked him, he talked to nissan and he said i could only put up to 20". he said anything over that nissan would not cover repairs to suspension/transmission problems i might have. i think i will give nissan a call later today to get the bottom line answer.

The potential problem is not the rim, but selecting an incorrect tire. If you search, you will find a site which can show you the RPM vs tire size. Yes, this is where people have the most trouble. One of the most important things is to have the tire height the same. Speed sensors for the the computer in the car are set for the height of your tires.

Y WWW/RA R RM

Y = Passenger or Light Truck rating Deals with the ply strength of the tire

WWW = Width in mm. at the max inflation point. Not tread width.
RA = Ratio of Width to sidewall height.
R = Radial or B for bias tire
RM = Rim Diameter.

No one part of the above determines the height of the tire, all are needed.

I thought you should know that there is alot more involved when modifying the wheel & tire size on your vehicle. When upsizing your wheels & tires you are usually increasing the unsprung weight. This requires more energy to start from a stop as well as reducing speed. In addition to a more harsh ride, you may notice that your rotors warp, your truck does not accelerate or decelerate as it used to, your suspension bushings show increased wear.

Don't get me wrong, I like the look of a large rim and a small profile tire. Everyone does - that's why you see similar setups on all the concept vehicles. Just be cautious about the changes you make - take your time and do some research. But most importantly, get an agreement from your dealer on what he will cover. I was surprised when I bought my Titan that the wheels on the 4x4 pkg models aren't made by Nissan and they are not warrantied for anything. That may give you the impression that you can do whatever you want, but you may be without warranty. I'm thinking about going with some 20's myself in the near future, but I'm waiting for something that has an offset similar to stock.

The dealer unfortunately holds all the big cards. The more expensive a vehicle gets, the more risk you have of voiding your warranty with mods.
I had real difficulty getting my dealer to look at my last c5 corvette after all the mods I had done. You may read that you're protected by the Magnuson-Moss warranty act, but truthfully this is a very gray area. And you'll need some money and a lawyer to back it up if you decide to test it.
Good luck.
