Remote Start

I am just wondering if any of you guys have had a remote starter installed into your Titan. From what I have gathered these trucks come with a key with a chip in it, that could be a problem. At this point I don't own a Titan, I'm still in the research phaze but the idea of not being able to have a remote start really bothers me since most of the year its snowing in NH

Any input is appreciated

The XE KC can be set up with remote start with no problem as it has no immobilizer or alarm system. All others have to have a workaround to defeat the immobilizer. the workaround is a module that you then have to put one of your keys in so it has a permanent key in the system. You'll have to buy another key, most likely, and the module so could be another 100 bux or so for installation.

you should have received 3 keys w/your truck...

and unless you have a specific need for it, use the Valet key (the one w/o the "chrome" logo on it). This will still leave you with 1 fully functioning spare. I have an LE and installed my own remote starter (and alarm) w/o issue using this key for the by-pass module.

Yea I got the remote starter put in at the dealer. They took the valet key with the chip and used it in the system. Works pretty good. I guess it was worth the $399 for the cold winter months.......Cheerssssssss

I'm just curious WHY you would need a remote starter? To turn on your car in the morning so it can warm itself up? To save the 3 seconds it takes to put the key in and turn it?

Just curious.

I did my LE with no problems. I will do them for anyone for $200 installed. I supply everything but your key. It works great. I do it so you can still use the factory fob, even to start it. If you press the lock 3 times in 5 seconds the truck starts. Or press Lock-Unlock-Lock and it will do it that way, one or the other not both.

well there are a few reasons why I need/want remote start. The first being that I am lazy and dont want to have to go outside in the snow to start my truck. The second, I hate being cold, I like the idea of having my truck warm when I get to it and not having to go out into the cold to make it that way. Third, I like to have my truck defrosted and waiting for me when I get out of work, god knows I don't want to spend more time there than I have too.

Those are my reasons....

Thanks for your replies

Depending on how cold it gets a remote starter can be real nice. When it hits 20 below 0 I dont want to go out to a cold truck.

How do you set it up like that, using the factory fob? What brand of remote starter are you using? That sounds cool.
