I'm a huge fan of the BF Goodrich All-Terrain offroad tires; have had them on a 1994 Explorer, a 1999 S-10 ZR2, and currently have them on my 2001 Tundra (size LT 285/75R16).
I wish Nissan had those tires as an option but they don't. Instead you get the BF Goodrich Rugged Trail tires, P285/70R17. Does anyone know how big a tire you can put on the Titan without having to modify anything? I put a 2" lift under the front of my Tundra but don't want to do this again on my Titan (which should be arriving next week).
If you get the offroad package it comes with 285/70 on 17in rims...dont think you could get anything bigger to fit under the front wheel well without a lift kit
Yep, I've got the off-road package ordered on the truck; just wondered if a tire a little larger than the P285 would fit on the Titan w/o having to modify anything.
Looks like the next largest tires offered in the All-Terrain category are an LT315/70R17 and a 37X12.50 R17. Both might be too big to fit.
Here's something interesting I found on the BF Goodrich website:
if you want to know what fits go to www.tirerack.com it will let you know if you pick a size too big or not. i too was already thinking about the day when i need to buy new tires and wondering if i could "plus size" or not. i just put some 31x10.50 on my 97 pathfinder se on the factory rims and man those plus size tires look killer. but to be honest the factory off road wheels/tires are pretty darn big already.

TireRack.com won't give you the max size you can fit, just what the factory recommends. My old Blazer ended up with a tire two sizes larger than what tire rack recommended, but they fit perfectly. The only true way to figure this out is trial and error, or at least some good measuring (which is almost impossible to do.) Unfortunately we have a very new truck without much real world experimentation. The big three have all figured out by now what will fit and what won't. Do I have any volunteers who'd like to slap on some 35"s????
actually if you just put in a size and it doesnt come up then it wont fit. and if all else fails then you can call them and they will tell u what fits.

Yes, but what do you think they base that on? They sure as hell don't have a test model of every vehicle in their database that they put every different tire size on and then cycle the suspension and deform the tire to insure it doesn't rub. There are plenty of tires that will fit vehicles that are unlisted in tire rack's lists. Believe me, i've ran 4 different sizes on my blazer, only 1 was listed on TireRack.com as fitting.
well sammy i dont want to argue w/ u. all i know is ive had good luck w/ them in the past. im sure it will take some time for them to get a good idea what fits the titan. but they will be the first place i call/log on to when i do need tires, b/c by then they will know exactly what fits. im done.

Sorry if I sounded like I was trying to argue, just making a point. Tire rack doesn't carry all brands of tires, and therefore not all sizes are listed. Nitto and Toyo makes tires that will fit the Titan, but those sizes aren't listed on TireRack.com. I have no doubt that you've had good luck with them, and I realize they do list what sizes they have been told will fit. But there are other sizes out there that will fit that aren't in their inventory.
Why not? I'm considering the Daystar spacer lift for the front of the Titan.
Makes for a stiff ride and I'd hate to do it to a brand new truck. I waited till I'd had my Tundra for over a year and a half before I lifted its front end. By that time I wasn't really worried about warranty issues if something got screwed up.
Don't get me wrong, it looks great and I'll probably be tempted. Got to get the truck here first, however.
