So Pissed!

Just got rear-ended by some bimbo (sorry ladies) on a cell phone in an Interpid. Crushed her front-end, bent my bumper under, crushed my neat little storage compartment and crumpled the rear quarter panel a little.

Now that my neck is hurting, I think Baxters, cold air intake, and a Snug-Top my be able to cure my pain. Any other goodies that I should be thinking of?

I don't usually feel this way, but have been screwed by two other drivers with no insurance.

Love the forum, we need to see who can get to 400hp 1st.

Sorry dude, I feel your pain... I'll probably be taking mine in tomorrow to the body shop for repairs...

Dealt with one this morning.

Some idiot was talking on the cell phone, not paying any attention when the entire lane in front of him slowed down to almost a crawl. Well he never even touched his brakes and wiped out not only the car in front of him, but pushed that one into the next one. I was fortunate to be right behind him when this all happened so I was able to avoid the mess.

I did flip on my lights and sit behind the mess to keep everyone safe until the State Police got there. Would you believe that the guy tried to deny that it was his fault. He claimed that the car he hit cut him off and slammed on their brakes and that he had no chance to react.

I sat and talked to the officer (filling out a report is a boring job so I figured he could use some company in the squad while he was doing it) and explained what I witnessed. Guess I better clear my calendar for a court date as the idiot was actually a laywer and is planning to take the whole thing to court. The officer and I had a good laugh over that one.

Wish I had my camera with me, the pictures would have been fun.

Sorry to hear about your accident and I hope you're really not hurt. Managing a large fleet I can tell you from experience that drivers that embellish injuries to improve their position in life hurt all drivers that pay for insurance. No offense, just a look from the other side......

No problem, I have two teen drivers and don't need any rate increases either. But I will tell you, if you mention that your neck and back hurts, they roll over like a yellow dog, especially if they are recording the statement. I am now sure that the truck will be repaired to my satisfaction and I get a rental of my choice while it is getting repaired.

The estimate came out to $2500 for the body damage, but looking at the axel, I measured the wheel base on each side and it is one inch shorter on the damaged side, so it is going into the dealer 1st for a tranny and axel check before the body work. Any other recommendations that I should look for would be appreciated.

I would go to a lawyer with experience in soft tissue injury & nerve damage traffic accident cases who will send you to the appropriate doctor to make sure that you are compensated for any physical injuries. Getting rear ended by a bimbo on a cell phone sounds like a slam dunk. People are getting sick of that crap and it will become illegal in more and more jurisdictions. Insurance companies are compiling alot of statistics, and cell phone use rivals drunk driving as a cause of accidents. What is it with bimbos and cell phones anyway? They seem like they have them glued to their heads or something. I was in the grocery store the other day and there were several of them that did all of their shopping while yacking on the cell phone. It is like a stream of consciousness thing or something "I see the tomatoes, How many should I get? They look pretty good, oh, but 5 cents higher than last week. . . . . ." And who the hell are they talking too? Who listens to all that babbling?

Driving Distractions

Good luck with the repairs Travis

I didn't think the radio controls on the steering wheel were something that I could really take advantage of, but...

Now that I have them memorized - it is really nice to be able to concentrate on all the other reckless idiots out there without having to play with the radio/CD controls.

Rrumaner...

Heck yeah, I believe he was denying it!

"Who listens to all that babbling?" Unfortunately, you and I, who are often forced to endure the empty-headed discussions these people are having with other empty-headed people. It used to be that talking into mid-air was an indication of mental illness. Now, it seems to be the 'style'. Go figure!

[quote=Travis499] I have two teen drivers and don't need any rate increases either.

I see I could have spared you the cost of insurance sermon. It's very frustrating to know that 1 in 4 drivers doesn't carry insurance in our state, and the punishment is a $300 ticket (that never gets paid). Only the law abiding citizens are left carrying the tab.

I've heard in some states uninsured motorists at the scene of the accident pay for their own repairs if they're at-fault or not, and some states go as far as impounding your vehicle if you don't have current insurance. That is what I call a penalty! And I bet their uninsured percentage is very low.

In California their cars can be towed and held for 30 days but it has no effect on all the uninsured and unlicensed drivers here. They just go get another beater and drive it until they get caught or have another accident and then go get another beater and so on.

It's a way of life, you need a car to survive and the rules were made for people who can afford them. Sigh . . . .
