I ordered my truck April 5th and my salesguy said 4-5weeks for delivery. Spoke with him again today (apr 27th) to ask him if he has a vin number for me. He says no, but he says it should be here anytime and that my truck is already built and the truck should arrive within 2 weeks or so. Reading the boards I know that this is BS. I didnt even bother to argue....I'll just use this as leverage to get some accessories thrown for free in when he doesnt deliver as promised!!!

An April order won't even get built until next week or the week after. If he says your truck is already built then he should be able to get the VIN because that is assigned when it starts to get built.
Don't know what it takes to get one in Texas but in New England they take forever. Mine was ordered March 5th and when we got the VIN a few weeks ago it showed a delivery date of May 28th.

If the truck was ordered in early March, it will be an April build. You know the saying "Trust, but verify". This is my approach to dealing with salesmen. You should ask for a print out from their computer system for YOUR order. On that it will tell the build month, MSRP, invoice, etc. Ask your salesman to fax it to you.

I got one of those printouts from the dealer when I ordered my truck. I ordered apr 5th. build date showed may and eta june. I asked my salesman about that and he said "oh dont worry about that. the truck is already considered sold so it will get here a lot faster. it should be here in 4-5 weeks"

ATC, that's dealer's giving you a line of BS. Better get out the hip waders. :jester:
Putting a deposit down does not make the factory speed up it's production line. No matter if you put $1 or $10000 deposit, the order will get there in 60-90 days.
The ONLY exception is if the dealer has already ordered the exact same truck in a previous month, which is unlikely because the dealers tend to order the trucks that appeal to most of the buyers in that area. (That's why I had to order mine, I wanted a 4x2 in New England, all they order are 4x4 unless special order).
If the order went in April 5, count on delivery in mid-June.
Dcrobt, so the dealer was feeding you BS, too, last month. Bummer.

I have asked this before but got no response, why are so many of you ordering your trucks? I went to my local dealer and they had around 20 trucks of all colors and packages, he did'nt have the EXACT truck I wanted(white KC SE popular pkg. captains chairs) but found one within an hour only 60 miles away. I bought the truck the next day.
Well I will order my truck even if they have the exact same truck I want on the lot. Why? Because I have seen how some the dealers drive new vehicles to the max that have less then a mile on it. Also, if it has been test driven, a lot of poeple like to take it up to the red line. For me, I want to break the engine in before it ever sees this type of driving. Also if I order the truck I know it hasn't been repaired by the dealer from other poeple pulling latches the wrong way in the cab, or putting dents and scratches on the truck or even picking there nose in my cab. At least those are some of the reasons I will order my truck.
When I test drove a CC, the dealer couldn't get the engine started. Turns out, it ran outta gas. You know what kind of potential damage that can cause w/the injectors only pumpin air? Could be pretty hefty. When we hopped into a diff one, and I let the salesman drive it first, I found out why it was outta gas, the dude was drivin like a maniac. Poundin down the gas to show me the engine power, then hittin the breaks b/c we were on the street. I don't want even the slightest bit of damage or abuse done to a truck I'm spendin so much cashiola on.
Up here in New England, all the dealers order 4x4s. There is only 1 4x2 in all of eastern Massachusetts right now. I definitely wanted a 4x2 (I mean, yea, I'd love a 4x4, but couldn't justify the additional $3k) so I had to order. Others make sense about abuse, etc. Waiting is a b*tch, though..
