Add me to the list

I seem to be seeing a pattern here that is disturbing me. In the last day or 2 I read a couple of threads where people were rear ended in their brand new Titans.............. I joined that crappy club today The woman that hit me had no insurance, and no driver's license. She was driving an old beat up 85 Grand Marquise with 5 kids in the car with her.

I'm going to see about an estimate tomorrow. It looks like the bumper is history. The bad thing is that it was pushed into the rear quarter and creased it. If the estimate is under a 1,000.00 I won’t make a claim with my insurance.

Keep a sharp eye on your rearview mirror.

How can people miss seeing the back of this big truck!

Sorry to hear about your getting hit. I have been rear ended three times in the past. All three times a person wasn't paying attention to driving. Twice they were on a cell phone and once the girl was putting on her makeup in rush hour stop and go...

Funny thing is...all of them happened in California where car insurance is "Required" but 2 of them didn't have any. Why the heck do we even have the 'Laws' but they never do anything to the individuals? Niether one of them even recieved a ticket for the accident and no insurance. Plays havoc when your trying to get your car repaired. My insurance ended up covering them and they recouped only from one of them. The other one gave a false address to the police officer. Go figure.

Sorry to hear about that, I think this is like the third thread I read about this. I too have been rear ended in other cars, and know how you feel. Hey, at least the damage was somewhat minimal.

Good luck on the repairs and accept nothing less than perfect.

Proves that as long as we who pay the bills in this country continue to excuse those who don't, or excuse a system that does not enforce the laws--then we will continue to be victims. In Washington DC, drivers without insurance is epidemic.

Reminds me of the lady on the cell phone with a cigarette behind me just the other day. The car in front of me suddenly stopped so I did the same. I looked in my rear view and thought to myself... uh oh, she's gonna nail me. At the last second she swerved and rear ended the car next to me. Wooo hoooo, I guess the Titan scared her into the next lane!

I had the same thing with a little less damage than you and my estimate is $1400. The bumper (with sonar) is $434.23, tail light assembly $122.56 add paint/labor and you see where you are going with this.

Hey, even if she had insurance, there is no guarantee that her insurance would pay. On mine, the kid backed up into my car and his insurance company (State Farm, who I will never, ever do business with even if they were the last insurance company on earth) denied my claim, the rat ba$tard$! So now I get to use my insurance, minus my deductable, to get it repaired. I pay for an accident that was not my fault, what a load of !

Gaddang! Dude I totally feel for you. I'm one of the other victims (hit and run on Sunday). I actually saw the guy coming and pulled as far to the right and forward as a could (car in front, curb to the right). If the tree wasn't there I probably would have jumped the curb too. My wife asked me later if that's why I moved when I did (she was in the car with my kids). You'd better figure on at least $1200 in damages. I'm still waiting for my insurance to confirm my coverage as the paper work hasn't be completed by them after 2 weeks even though they sent me a temp insurance card already.

I don't understand how in the heck people can't see these flippin big trucks!!!

My Titan brothers beware, they are out to get us!!!

Sorry to hear of your damage; this is starting to sound like a bad trend! What would you estimate the 85 G.M.s speed to have been? Just wondering if we can learn from your bad luck and see if it's possible to relate speed of impact to amount of damage.

Now I'm beginning to wonder if the tail lights are harder to see than other trucks. The third light is definitely too high for cars to see. I had the sun to my back so maybe the brake lights were drowned out. I don't know... Just seems like too many rear end collisions in a short time...

I get hit Sunday, Travis on Monday, Sportzfan on Tuesday, I hope no posts that they got hit today. This is really bumming me out...

37Z1, don't be taking the last sonar rear bumper now, leave me one too ok?

What did the police report say? Did it state who was at fault? If you do end up turning it in to your insurance, talk to them and see if they'll subrogate against the other guys insurance to get that money back. They'll try to get back your deductible also. We have trouble with State Farm at my office too.

37L1, I got rearended by a mailbox the first night I had my Titan. Cracked
the driver's side tail light. My dealer, who won't come a penny off retail
list for anything, ordered me a new tail light for around $77 plus tax.

The price you were quoted for the bumper sounds right, but you might
want to get another quote.

Good Luck, Steve

I think the turn signal lights, are at fault here...., my wife drives behind me once in a while, and she says that if I push the brakes and a turn signal, which is the same color as the break lights, you can't see the blinkers... now if the turn signals where color orange, like other cars then perhaps it will be easier to see, considering that the red from the break lights over power the view....
Ok, many cars have this configuration, but the Titan has rather large break lights.... and so on, well put it this way European cars have turn signals that are of a different color, to me it makes sense.
Food for though.

Have any of you seen the video done by the Safety Driving Council (or something like that)? It shows a row of vehicles waiting at a light. The light turns, the vehicles take off when a woman pushes a baby buggy into the crosswalk. The first car makes a rapid stop, the second car slides to a stop, the third car rear ends the second. Then a god like voice comes up and says, "The second car could have prevented that accident!". We in the class are astounded. How? Well, if he had been following at the proper two second interval, then he would have made a normal stop, the car behind him would have slid to a stop and the one behind that would have nailed the one that did not have the proper interval. Tailgating not only subjects one to hitting the car ahead of you, but subjects one to getting rear ended as well. Think about it the next time you have to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident.

For the purpose of inflicting the most damage, and maybe just to attract attention to curtail an impact, I leave my hitch insert and ball on at all times. If I am hit by an uninsured driver at least I know they won't leave the scene because my ball will be firmly implanted in their radiator.
