Buying advice for Atlanta area

I have been lurking on the board for a while now, and have come to the point where I need to start shopping around for a Titan . The money side is taken care of, I won't need dealer financing. Also, I am planning to sell my present car privately, or to Carmax. I am looking to buy a CC in the next week or so. I live in Alpharetta.

I would appreciate some feedback from owners in the Atlanta area regarding dealers, deals and places to avoid. The only dealer I have visited so far (just to see the Titan 'in the flesh') was Regal Nissan in Roswell. Seemed like a no pressure place. They were courteous, and stayed that way even after I explained to them that I wouldn 't be buying a Titan until May or so (this was in February).

I was thinking of entering my info on edmunds.com and then have dealers contact me with offers, instead of driving around and spending ungodly amounts of time on negotiations. Is this a strategy that will get me a good (or even 'the best') deal?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Rino

I would find the 'Internet Manager' for all of your local delaers and send them an e-mail describing what you want in/on the truck and let them know your serious right off the bat and want thier flat out best 'cash' price....See what comes back that way first...

I bought mine from Peachtree Nissan, on Peachtree Industrial, about 2 miles south of 285.

I visited a Ford, Chevy, and Dodge dealer first and have to say the Nissan sales experience was the most pleasant. It was an easy deal with no BS factor.

The truck was brought back to their service dept for a minor warranty issue and the first oil change. I have never owned a Nissan before, and am used to the outstanding customer service of a local Audi dealer (both sales and service depts).

I would have to give Peachtree Nissan a thumbs up.

P.S. I think they pay a referral for business. If you want to use my name, I will pass the cash back to you. Send me a PM.

Avoid United Nissan in Morrow for sales, but, they have a great service dept. Call John Fussell at Team Nissan in Marietta, he's the internet sales manager and is a cool motor head like most of us here. Tell him Dale sent you....oh, and he offered me the best deal right over the phone with no haggling. Now that's my kind of sales guy!!

Here's what I got so far

Thursday night, I emailed two Nissan dealers and one Ford dealer in the area through edmunds, and one Nissan dealer directly:

- received automated email replies from all of them almost immediately

Friday:
- received follow-up emails from all, no prices
- talked to all of them over the phone (so much for Internet shopping), and found that 2 of them claimed they didn't get the details from edmunds on the options I wanted

- One Nissan dealer immediately quoted me "any Titan, $500 over invoice"
- Friday night, the second dealer quoted me "$1000 off MSRP" on any Titan
- still emailing with third Nissan dealer (he has an excuse: they were open till midnight on Friday)

- Since I am not as familiar with the new F-150 as I am with the Titan, my wife and I visited the Ford dealer. At my wife's request, I included Ford as a sort of sanity check to make sure Titan really is a good deal, but I would have been open to buying an F-150 had we really liked it.

Here's what we found (I am 6'5"):
- F-150 has a very stylish interior (just a notch above Titan, IMHO)
- F-150 is too small inside for me! The front feels smaller than Titan's, but room was just adequate for me. When seated in the back, my head/hair touches the roof, the seatback is too upright to be comfortable, and legroom feels a few inches less than Titan.
- My wife complained about the lack of a step bar, she had trouble getting into the cab.
- prices seemed to be very high, compared to the Titan

So, my preference for the Titan had been justified, and my wife's now totally on board for a new Titan

Will give the remaining Nissan dealer until noon, and then probably go with the $500 over invoice deal.
