Titan VS. Hemi?

I'm new so if this question has been beat to death cut me some slack ok? But I have a freind that has a Dodge reg cab with the Hemi and he's itching to line up against my new Titan(theres not many around here). I only have a little over 200 miles so it's gonna be awhile before we line them up. I have a 2 part question, one, how many miles before its safe to hot rod the titan? And another, will the Titan beat his reg. cab Hemi? All the comparisons I have read show the Titan's 1/4 mile times almost 1/2 second faster but I believe they are up against a quad cab? Let me hear your Hemi stomping stories ok?

the published power to weight ratio on a reg cab hemi makes it look like they would win or be very close. the dodge reg cab is about 300 pounds lighter than ours and that ain't good. It appears though that our motor is under-rated slightly. I've never heard it reported here but I would bet the dodge can beat us...unless you have the lightest titan - XE KC. Might be even up then. on the other hand, if you lose, tell us but no one else. I'd wait till I had 10k before racing but that's just me.

Is the reg cab hemi a 4x4, or 2x4?

Using a typical horsepower calculator that takes into account veh. wt., 1/4 mile et and trap speeds plugging in info from various publication tests i've found that the titan is putting out approx. 10 h.p. more than the hemi, typically 330 vs. 320. Maybe the titan has a much more efficient driveline than the hemi but either way with the data used the titan is trumping the hemi in output. Another consideration would be that the titan just has a much fatter torque curve and produces more power throughout the powerband vs. a narrower peakier power band in the hemi, also the titan gearing might be better matched to its power band vs. the hemi, after all the titan has 4 true gears + 1 overdrive gear vs. the dodge 3 gears and 2 overdrives. The titan should no doubt get the hole shot with its very low 1st gear and its great ability to hook up, and any one that drag races knows that its the first 60 ft. that makes or breaks a run. I'm sure either truck could win on any given day as they are closely matched. My father has an 04 crew cab hemi 1500 and we live 20 min. from a drag strip so the time is coming and both trucks are similer in size so there should be no excuses, I've just got to put some miles on this truck so we can duke it out.

I could not said it better myself. Its gonna be a super close one. And let me tell you that them 2 overdrives suck bigtime!!! Alot of power lost in my hemi transmission..

Break in is 1200 miles, but my gas mileage went up by about 1 MPG at 5,000. I think it would be close as the Reg Cab is lighter. Maybe catch him with a full gas tank and with the spare, your tank nearly empty and take out the spare and jack and any other stuff you have in it.
Also be sure to turn VDC off. Maybe the drop in K&N air filter will give you a little extra. Also if you can talk him into getting real big rims and tires

Stock this race should be close. Reaction and traction win these races. Not stock, the Hemi (currently) has a lot more options. My buddy has one and tells me about what the guys are doing on the Dodge boards. A common first mod is going to 17" tires at the track. Some headers, catless exhaust, torque converter, and a cam has some running these trucks in the 12's. My buddies 03 6.0 Chevy runs 12's on motor with these same mods. It's crazy how fast cars/trucks are these days

If you are lucky he might only have 3.55 gears. That would make a difference.

Hemi Vs. Titan

I watched the Titan beat the Hemi 2x. At a "ride and drive" they lined up a hemi and Titan each with a 04 altima on a trailor. Raced, Switched drivers and witnesses, and raced again. The Titan came out on top both times. Now this was not a full 1/4 but the Titan did have a truck and half a trailor lead on it. They trainer said it the Hemi would catch it at 90+ mph because of the higher hp.

there are many factors as everyone has pointed out. mods, spare, sway, drivers abilities. i would say a reg. cab hemi would probably beat you due to his lesser weight. if he has any mods done and you are bone stock than he will beat you. now QC vs. CC is a different story. there the TITAN can whoop the hemi all day long.
