Any former Tundra owners?

Just wondering if there are any former Tundra owners in here, and why they switched?

i had a tundra. basically, compared to other full-size trucks, its a joke. the "access" cab is too damn tiny, the V8 is smooth but nothing compared to the others in its class, just too small. it was a quality truck, but not a real full size in my opinion. wake up toyota. i want my boots to be knocked off in 2006.

I had a 01 Tundra AC with the IS kit, aftermarket wheels and tires.. it was a SHARP truck. Then I rode in a Ford F250 QC and had to have a QC. Test drove the Tundra DC, and it was blah.

Then I went across the street, test drove a Titan, and wrote a check. There was no comparison.

I never had a Tundra, but my uncle has one and let's me drive it all the time (not that I want to). No comparison to the Titan. He has the new doublecab, so it's somewhat nice, but very underpowered imo.

Had LTD Accesscab-great truck-just wanted more acceleration

I sold my Limited 2wd 2 weeks ago.It was a great truck,no complaints,no problems.I just decided I wanted more acceleration, more backseat room, and while I was at it,I would get side curtain airbags which aren't offered in the Tundra. The motor was very smooth, and it wasn't slow-one of the moto mags had it doing a 7.89 0-60.
The DC Tundra is very nice also, but just doesn't have the acceleration of the Titan,or Hemi.It is still quicker than the 300 hp Ford-little horses-must be ponies, not mustangs.
The Titan just has a lot more motor.I didn't need more motor,I just want it.
Unfortunately the CC I have been eyeballing was sold,so I have to start hunting again.Charlie

I had an '01 Tundra, SR5, 4WD, TRD Access Cab. It was a great truck. Very silent cab, very well behaved, very well engineered. I'm very hard on my vehicles as I accelerate hard, drive fast, brake hard and love the off roading here in southern Arizona. The Tundra never complained. Depending on what Toyota does in '06, I could see myself going back...unless a nice bolt on supercharger comes out for the Titan

No but my neighbor has one and he swears by it. However, its fair to point out that he is incredibly partial to Toyota...and he drinks too much.

I have never owned a Tundra but my brother works for Toyota and has a DC demo that I could have bought for cost minus mileage. My Titan purchase has caused some family problems to say the least if you can imagine.

I just needed more for my money. My jeep alone would have been pushing the tow rating of the Tundra, and thats without the motorcycles and quads on the trailer.

I know he is hoping I have major problems so he can say I told you so.

I had an '02 V-8 access cab TRD 4x4. Loved this truck, however I needed more room in the back for the kiddies. The new Tundra 4 door wasn't an option because I would loose towing capability.

I still have my '01 Limited Access Cab 4X4. It's been a great truck but I'll be trading it in on the Titan when it arrives in a couple of weeks.

I need more room as I've got a ton of crap I haul around in my truck.

Here's the Tundra:

Anyone want to buy it??

Tundra V8 would be sort of O.K. if it came standard with the blower at no extra charge.

I had a Tundra. It had a nice smooth engine and was nice. It was too small, with 4 kids it was very cramped. I had cloth seats in mine and they didn't seem to support me very well, not like the titan. I was rear-ended by a person with no insurance. The tundra had a tow hitch on it, Didn't do any damage to my truck but really pelled back her hood. So truck was tough. Just to small - didn't seem full size. I guess their new D cab is, but I am happy with my titan and all that power and room.

My dad has an 04 Tundra 4WD DC SR5........nice enough truck but next to my Titan still looks like a 7/8 scale full size truck......IMHO the DC bed looks too big for the truck when compared to the front of the truck......But, Toyota's are nice ( traded a 96 4runner for my Titan) and if Toyota decides to really bring it with the 06 Tundra I could see myself going back to Toyota too.......

Don't own a Tundra but I do have a 4Runner and the only trucks I set my sights on were the Tundra, Tacoma & Titan.

Test drove both the Tundra SR5 DC & the Titan XE CC and I will admit that overall the interior is nicer on the Tundra than the Titan.

The price was out of whack. For the same MSRP price the Tundra had no VSC, no bedliner, no extender and smaller less powerful engine but it did have a moonroof and the sliding rear window. They tried real hard, pointing out the difference in the interiors and exterior styling but I responded that $ for $ I was getting a better value with the Titan. The VDC was a must have and unless you get a fully loaded Limited, Toyota won't offer the VSC (& at $40G out of my price range).

If only Nissan had Toyota's quality & reliability.
