Aux input is worthless - Anyone else with this problem?
I've got the mid-grade stereo (non-RF) and my AUX jack is not matched to the output of the CD or tuner. I've got to turn the volume all the way up when I plug in my MP3 or Sirius tuner (which really deteriorates the sound quality because of all the system noise at full volume). The volume of the jack is ~ 1/3 of what it is with the CD. There is also quite a difference between the output of the CD and the tuner (tuner is ~ 2/3 of CD output). I checked another Titan on the showroom with the RF system and had the same results.
I've already called Nissan on this - they said if they got enough calls, they work on a fix for the problem. If others are having this problem please call 1-800-NISSAN1 and let them know. Also, please chime in here so I know if I'm a rarity amongst you all.

Yes this is the same way on mine, I thought this would be a really nifty feature to have as I have portable mp3 player. Mine sounds alright but you do have to crank he volume way up. Also portable players typically dont have a direct line out and you have to use the headphone jack (which works) but causes more decrease in volume. I am seriously thinking about ditching this head unit (radio problem) but i dont want to mess up my dash and give up the steering wheel controls...what to do?
Some MP3 players have an accessory that provides amplification. I have an iPod and bought their auto kit. It includes an amplifier that makes the volume better...I still have to turn it up higher than the radio or CD but not anywhere near all the way. Might want to see if these accessories are available for your player...it also keeps it charged witht he DC outlet.
haven't used it yet, but have you tried upping the volume on your actual MP3 player first?
Then secondary volume controlled by radio
If it is output using the headphone jack of an mp3 player, the mp3 player volume control will provide some gain. However some mp3 players have a level line out where the volume control does not affect the line out.
My iPod sounds great through the AUX input. I am using a Monster iCharger that has a true line-out. Volume is controlled via the Titan's volume knob.
If you are going out of any MP3 type device, CD player, etc., you need to go out through the line-out, not the headphone jack output. Otherwise the audio WILL sound like crap.
yeah like everyone else said, my ipod works great through the belkin auto charger ( the audio comes off the charger)--it has small pre amp on it, that maeks the sound more like 85% of the cd sound--and yes the radio is friggin terrible. I am going to wait until the new froniter comes out, and just buy one of the newer fosgate decks out of it that have a better aux input, and can play mp3 cdr's as I want to keep my car looking stock--check freshalloy.com for pics --may even go xm for the radio though still thinking about it
fyi--in regards to the aux input--the service manual shows that it is no more than asimple input ( like un amplified speakers for ex.)that whoever makes the headunit didnt think to amplify it like all the other leads.
I have to use my headphone out. The Sony mp3 player that I have only uses this method of output. I have plugged this mp3 player into the AUX port my DeWalt stereo and there is no sound deterioration at all. When I plug it into the Titan I have to crank the MP3 player's volume all the way up, and crank the Titan's volume up to 3/4 to full tilt.
I've been in the car stereo game ever since I turned sixteen (28 now) and I would never buy anything Clarion. Clarion = Junk in my book. I compare the Clarion name to a high price Jensen. I can't wait until some manufacture makes a dash install kit, so I can get a real stereo in there.
I know some of you out there are worried about losing the 6-disc in-dash CD changer, but Alpine (I believe) still makes a 3-disc in-dash changer that kicks a$$.
There are also some people out there that are worried about losing their steering wheel controls. I know PAC use to make an adapter that connected to your steering wheel control wires and was able to convert your input on the steering wheel into signals that could be picked up by an aftermarket head unit that is remote capable (Most new HUs are capable).

I have the CC LE and my aux works great with my iPod! Make sure you turn up the volume all the way up on your MP3, then you can controll it with the truck stereo volume knob.

I play a portable DVD player's sound through my (C) Stereo's AUX and it works great! I have the voulme up all the way on the portable unit and it sounds awesome, almost surround sound quality. The kids love cranking up Spongebob on those long trips, and best of all I only have less than 200 bucks in the whole setup.

What about the interface with the guide voice for the NAV system?
The point that I'm trying to make is that you shouldn't have to crank up the volume on you portable mp3, DVD, XM, etc... You should be able to go straight from headphones on your MP3 player and (at the same volume level) plug it into the Titan an get an fairly decent sound and loud with the Titan’s radio on about 15-20. But no, with the crappy Clarion receiver you have to turn the volume on your portable devices up all the way, and listen to some distortion caused by the portable device being cranked. Some people might be happy listening to distortion, but I hate it. I know I’ll catch some flack from this post, but if you listen close enough, you too will hear the distortion.

no your right--if you turn it all the way up from the headphone jack you will get some distortion, but that is becasue you are maxing the output from the device. even high end stero willl distort at their highest output level---but I will agree the stereo should be way better for what we are paying
