Aftermarket stereo questions

Has anyone run 1/0 guage power wire threw there truck yet? I haven't looked to see how hard its gonna be but im sure it won't be easy. Also the wiring at the battery is intresting with fuses right there what did you do to work around it? And lastly i was told by my dealer that the rockford cd changer had rca outputs has anyone taken the dash apart to find out if it does or not? thanks.

There is a terminal with a nut directly on the positive post of the battery that you can wire to, and then use an in-line fuse holder. I fished a wire through the hood latch release cable grommet in the firewall, although maybe there is some better place if you take the center section of the dash apart.

Pioneers up-scale line is premier. For home audio it is elite. I won't be using Premier though this time. Im gonna give the new rockford line a shot.

I bought a new terminal with 1 1/0 guage 2 8 guage and a 4 guage input. I was thinking of running my new wire to the 1/0 guage input and then running a 4 guage wire from that nut your talking about to the 4 guage input. Think that would be ok?

If your talking about a wiring distributor, then I dunno why you wouldnt wire the 1/0 guage wire from the acc. lead bestatchess was talking about, and then the 4 awg and the 2-8awg terminals to wire your amp's ect.

there are no rca on the headunit (you have to use a LOC) as it is made by clarion not fosgate (funny huh)

as far as the wiring do what bestachess did through the firewall hole where the hood latch goes unless you want to pull off the deck

Pio....
Run the 1/0 ga to a fuseholder first (an absolute must) then through the firewall into the cab. You can use the 4ga postion on the battery terminal to go to the OEM nut you wrote about above.

Thanks, i knew about the inline fuse but never hurts to tell people about since it would be a huge mistake. 1/0 guage would have never fit threw the hood release so i just ended up have to drill which was not big deal.

Is it like the Directed Audio 62155 Battery Terminal Kit shown here:

http://www.carmedia1.com/en-us/dept_225.html ??

Are you saying that you can't get the + terminal (like the Directed Audio Terminal) on the + terminal of the battery because of the stock fuse attachment?

If that is the case, I would not just suspend the Directed Audio style terminal, but rather use a distribution block like one of the AudioPipe blocks shown here:

https://www.expeditionexchange.com/a.../indexmain.htm

or here:

http://www.exploretheuniverse.net/99...on%20Block.htm

In any case, the thickest wire should go to the battery (0 gauge or whatever), because that leg will carry the most current.

Then you would need to make sure the wire sizes were adequate for the loads (total for the wire to the battery and also in each leg).

Here is a site with a nice voltage drop and wire gauge calculator:

http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm

You would also want to provide appropriate fuses. You can find all sorts of stuff like this by searching for "AudioPipe" on Ebay.

I have 1/0 gauge wire on my setup. Why are you running such a big power cable? Do you plan on running 1500watts RMS or more? I had to drill a hole in the firewall as well to get the 1/0gauge to fit my old setup had 4gauge which there is a hole in the firewall already. I also used 1/0 gauge and re-grounded my battery and frame.
