Thumbs up Tool box that I like

I've been searching for a tool box to keep a set of emergency tools in for my Crew Cab Titan for a while now and I finally found one that I really like. It is the Craftsman part #65119 that sells for only $9.99. I wanted a toolbox that would store behind the back seat because I didn't want to store it under the back seat because when you flip the seat up to carry groceries or whatever it would be in the way. If stored there It would also slide around and end up in the way. I also didn't want to keep it under the front seats because I keep the Utilitrack tie downs in the box that they came in under the driver's seat. I keep the space under the passenger's front seat cleared out for my wife to hide her purse when she wants to leave it in the truck. The center console is full of CD's and a whole lot of other stuff. The side compartment is full of tie down straps, gloves, tow rope, and tow balls. This tool box nestles behind the larger section of the back seat that is behind the passenger's side. The tool box fits in there like it was made to go there.(see attached photos that show the space before and after the box is in place) There is no room for it to wobble around and make noise. The toolbox does not interfere with the seatbelt or any other mechanisms behind the seat. Because the toolbox is plastic it does not have edges that might make shreds of the upholstery and carpet. The box is fairly long so it will hold long stuff like flares, reflective triangles, etc. The next thing I am going to buy is a couple of craftsman pouches ( like the kind you put hand wrenches in) to wrap the tools in so that they don't make noise rattling around in the tool box.
If you would like to try this out, buy one the next time you are at Sears ( they keep them in stock) and try it out on their parking lot before you leave. If you don't like it, take it back right then. I think people will like it though.

I put an air compressor and set of jumper cables(in a nice zipper bag)in the same place behind the large rear seat. Works great for storing small things.

Nice. I like it. I just wonder if it will fit behind the seat in the KingCab. You have a CrewCab, don't you BT?

Thanks for the heads up...I too was trying to find a new tool box that would fit back there so I can have full advantage of the floor when the seat is up. Thanks

Yep, they are good. I got one of those a couple of years ago, but it's not made by Sears. It has the words "Truck Box" embedded in the pastic on the lid. Looks exactly like the one you showed though. I got it for my 99 Frontier KC 4x4. They are very handy.

I recently found a nice tool box, but with tools in little molded compartments. Sockets(many), screw drivers(several), wrenches(several), box cutter, pliers(4 types), alan wrenches etc.... It is about the same size as the one above but with 2 lids/doors. That one fits nice behind the back seat too. Got it at BJ's (like a Sam's Club). I'll try to take pics.

Re: Tool box that I like

Thanks to Bayou Titan, I bought this toolbox and kept it in my '04 CC. It worked out great. I was going to put it in my '06 CC the other day and discovered that the toolbox would no longer fit in the same area! The power rear windshield added thickness to the backwall behind the rear seat...

Re: Tool box that I like

i know this is an old thread, but i think that it is a great piece of equipment and could really benefit a lot of TITAN owners....by the way Bayou, how is it holding up? do you still have it? what do you have in there? any pics of how you have it organized?

I still have it and it still fits my needs well. I have always been able to fix whatever I needed with these simple tools. I haven't had to use them on my Titan but frequently use them when I transport stuff for myself or other people. The other day I had to take a refrigerator door off to get it into the house.

The tools I carry are:

5 piece standard combination wrench set
5 piece metric combination wrench set
1 Pliers
1 screwdriver with assorted bits
1 metric allen key set
1 standard allen key set
1 wire cutter
1 small 1/4" / 3/8" socket set
1 claw hammer
1 adjustable wrench
2 wrench pouches (keeps tools from rattling)
6 cable ties
1 roll of electrical tape
2 shop rags
